Remove the pillowcase. If you use a pillowcase or blanket cover on the pillow, you need to remove it. Some pillows come with a zipper cover that needs to be removed and washed separately.
Put the pillow in the washing machine. You don’t need to worry because washing pillows in the washing machine is quite safe (even fluffy pillows). You should wash at least two pillowcases at the same time so that the washing machine is balanced and the pillow is not overturned.
Put laundry detergent in the machine. For normal washing, add a cup/spoon of normal laundry detergent. To make your pillows whiter, you can add a few of the following ingredients to your laundry detergent: 1 cup dishwashing liquid, recommended amount of bleach, and ½ cup borax. [1] X Research Source
Start the washing process. Adjust the settings on the washing machine so that it runs with hot water and rinses twice. Use the “heavy wash” mode if available. Then the washing machine will do its job!

Put the pillow in the dryer. Put the pillow in the dryer and adjust the settings; Set the washing machine to “mild”/”fluffy”/”no heat” if the pillow is made of fluff. Switch the drying mode to low heat for synthetic pillows.
Dry the pillow. Put two tennis balls in clean white socks and throw them in the dryer to inflate the pillow and reduce drying time. Then start the dryer!
Check the pillow. When the dryer finishes the process, you can take out the pillow and touch it to check for moisture. Smell the pillow to check the moisture in the center. If the pillow is not completely dry, you should repeat the drying process and check again. Otherwise, your pillow is clean and ready to use! [2] X Research Source

Wash memory foam pillow

Remove the pillowcase. Before washing, you need to remove the pillowcase or cover. Most memory foam pillows have a protective cover with a zipper that needs to be removed. These items can be washed separately in the washing machine.
Pour water into the tub. The washing machine is too strong on the sensitive memory foam, so this pillow needs to be hand washed. Pour warm water into the tub (or basin). You just need to pour water on the pillow.
Add laundry detergent to the water. Mix a teaspoon of laundry detergent into the water for each pillow. Stir by hand until foam appears.
Wash pillows. Put the pillow in the water and stir around so that the washing water is evenly absorbed. Scrub and wring by hand to remove dirt and clean inside and out.
Wash the pillow. Rinse the pillow under cold water. You need to rinse off as much soap as possible, checking for suds as the water comes out. The washing process may take several minutes longer than washing.

Dry the pillow. High heat can damage and crush the memory foam, so you should not put the memory foam pillow in the dryer. Instead, you should place the pillow on a clean white towel in a dry place. If possible, expose your pillow to the sun.
  • Check the pillow. Activated foams have the characteristics of keeping water for a long time, because they are made of foam material. You should check, do not leave water in the pillow before use, otherwise it will produce mold.
  • Advice

    • You should wash your pillow 2-3 times per year to remove sweat, body oil, dandruff and dust accumulation.
    • Check the pillow to see if it should be replaced with a new pillow. If you fold the pillow in half and they remain in the same condition, the pillow is too old and needs to be replaced. If the pillows return to their original shape, they are still in good condition and you can simply wash them. On average, you should change your pillow every two years.
    • You can wash the recliner pillow in the same way as a pillow. Just remember to remove the cover to protect the pillow.
