If you’ve ever come across files with the “.7z” extension, you’re probably wondering why you can’t open them. These files (“7z” or “7-Zip files”), are a collection of one or more files compressed in the same package. Long press on 7z filename. Hold your finger on the file until you see a box that says “Would you like to unzip all files?” (Do you want to extract all files?) appears.

Click OK. The contents of the 7z file will be extracted to a folder of the same name.

  • When the progress bar disappears, you can open files by clicking on them right on iZip or going to the folder where they are being archived.

Visit 7-Zip website . Since 7z is a compressed file, you won’t be able to see the contents until the files are extracted using the decompression program. Windows users can extract the contents of 7z archives with 7-Zip at no cost.

Click the “…” button to select the file storage folder. The folder you choose is where the contents of the 7z file will be extracted.

  • The default location is the new folder located in the current directory and named after the 7z file.
  • For example, if the archive is named Blue.7z and is on the desktop, a new default file will be created on the desktop with the name “Blue”.

Click “OK” to extract the file to the folder. You will see a progress bar showing the time of the decompression process. After the file is unzipped, the progress bar will disappear. You can now double-click the folder to access the file.
