Tie your hair back. Use a headband, hair band, or small metal clip to tie/clip your hair (including bangs) back to reveal your entire face. This way, the hair does not interfere with the facial skin care process.

Wash your face with a mild facial cleanser. Use your favorite cleanser to remove makeup and wash your face. Use warm water instead of cold or hot water because warm water is the ideal temperature due to the delicate skin of the face.

  • Make sure to wash off your makeup before moving on to other steps.
  • If you want to try something new, you can use an oil-based face wash. Apply almond oil, jojoba oil or olive oil to your face, then rinse with warm water. This is a great way to remove makeup without harming your skin.

Use an exfoliating product or other ingredient. Accumulation of dead skin cells will cause dull skin. Exfoliating the skin to brighten the skin is an important part of any skin care routine. Use your favorite exfoliating cream to gently exfoliate. If you don’t have an exfoliator, you can make your own by combining these simple ingredients: [1] X Research Source

  • 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon honey and 1 teaspoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon of oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of water

Wash your face clean and pat dry. Wash your face one last time to remove all residue from the exfoliator. You may need to use a washcloth dipped in warm water to remove the exfoliating product around your eyes and nose. Finally, dry your face with a soft towel.

Face massage. Massaging helps to increase circulation, for a healthier glowing skin. After cleansing, you can massage your face before moving on to the next skin care steps. Use your index and middle fingers to massage your face in gentle circular motions.

  • Massage the forehead, starting from the center of the forehead and moving down to the temples.
  • Massage the nose and cheekbones.
  • Massage lips, chin and jawline.

Cleans the pores

Sauna. Boil a small pot of water on the stove. Turn off the stove and stand facing the top of the pot, and at the same time put a towel over your head so that the steam is kept around your face. Steam your face for about 5 minutes and you can open the towel to breathe when needed. Steam helps to open the pores to prepare for a mask to absorb impurities.

  • For a more lavish experience, you can add some essential oils to the water. That way, you can both steam and receive aromatherapy. Try adding a few drops of lavender, lemongrass, rose, or grapefruit essential oils to your water to boost your mood.
  • If you don’t have essential oils, you can drop a few herbal tea bags into the water. Chamomile, mint, and Chai tea all contain aromatic herbs.

Mask. The next step is to apply a mask to draw out impurities (such as dirt and dead cells) from the pores. You can buy masks from the store or make your own masks at home in a simple and fun way. Try one of the following masks: [2] X Research Source

  • For dry skin: mix 1 mashed banana with 1 teaspoon of honey
  • For normal skin: mix 1 teaspoon of aloe vera with 1 teaspoon of honey
  • For oily skin: mix 1 teaspoon of clay (skin care type) with 1 teaspoon of honey
  • For all skin types: pure honey with antibacterial and moisturizing properties is suitable for all skin types.

Mask 15 minutes. Spread the mask evenly on the skin and wait for the mask to take effect. During that time, you can take care of your eyes. Lie down, close your eyes and apply 2 slices of cucumber over your eyes. If you don’t have cucumbers, you can use 2 chilled tea bags.

Wash your face clean and pat dry. Use warm water to remove all residue from the mask. Make sure to wash off the honey around your eyes and nose as the remaining honey feels quite greasy.

Use water to balance the skin and moisturize the skin

Apply a homemade skin toner. Toner helps to brighten the skin and restore the balance of the skin. You can buy toner from the store or use a skin toner available at home. Try one of the following skin toners: [3] X Research Source

  • 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with 1 teaspoon of water
  • 1 teaspoon of hazelnut juice mixed with 1 teaspoon of water
  • 1 teaspoon of rose water mixed with 1 teaspoon of water

Finish with a moisturizer. The final step is to apply a moisturizer suitable for your skin type. Moisturizing cream helps prevent dry skin and preserve the effectiveness of facial care. Look for an alcohol-free moisturizer because alcohol can make your skin dry faster.

  • If you want to use an all-natural moisturizer at home, you can use Argan oil, almond oil or Jojoba oil.
  • Aloe vera is another great natural moisturizer with healing properties. Aloe vera is especially helpful if your skin is recovering from a sunburn.

Wait a few hours after facial care before applying makeup. You should wait a bit before starting makeup as usual so that your facial skin has time to recover and enjoy the full benefits of the skin care process. Makeup products often contain alcohol and a variety of chemicals. So putting on makeup right after exfoliating and clearing pores can cause irritation.
  • Advice

    • Do not scrub your face too hard when exfoliating to avoid irritating the skin.

    • Exfoliating products for facial skin
