Fortunately, there are a number of other types of businesses and stores that cash checks and are open on Saturdays.

We list these businesses below, including information about store hours, maximum check amounts, fees, and how to find a location.

Note that if you have a bank account and need to cash a check on a Saturday, many of the larger banks like Bank of America and Wells Fargo offer mobile banking smartphone apps that allow you to scan a signed copy of the check into the app for deposit directly into your bank account. You won’t, however, have access to the cash until the check clears and you make a withdrawal.

Banks and Credit Unions

If you aren’t a customer at a given bank or credit union, you can still cash a check there if it was issued by that bank or credit union.

The bank or credit union will be able to verify the account it came from because it has access to the account and can determine that the money is indeed available.

You’ll need to show identification (sometimes two forms) to cash the check. As with most places that cash personal checks, banks and credit unions often have fees as well.

If you try to cash a check at an issuing bank or credit union where you aren’t currently a customer, the bank employee may try to persuade you to open an account. However, you don’t need to purchase any financial products from the bank or open an account to cash the check.
