Is it spread from person to person?

Currently, scientists do not have any evidence that the G4 virus is capable of being transmitted from person to person . However, the first two positive cases were found in 2016 and 2019. One was a 46-year-old patient and the other was a 9-year-old patient. This proves that this strain will have the ability to spread from pigs to humans, causing serious infections and possibly death . Scientists fear that they have the ability to mutate, and then have the ability to transmit from person to person.

Is there a way to prevent the G4 virus?

Currently, scientists confirm that we do not have immunity to these strains of the G4 virus . At the same time, we have yet to find a vaccine to treat them.

In a blood sample analysis conducted by scientists, up to 10.4% of pig farmers were infected with G4 virus in the surveyed localities in China. And this study also shows that up to 4.4% of the surrounding population has been exposed to this virus strain .

After these studies, PNAS warned that it is necessary to tighten the management of pig production in China and also take measures to monitor people who work in contact with pigs here to avoid outbreaks. .
