Quick Charge 3.0 is a technology that reduces the time it takes to charge your smartphone or tablet by more than 4 times compared to conventional charging. Let’s learn more about this technology.
What is Quick Charge?
Quick Charge is a technology that helps to increase the charging speed of the battery on Qualcomm’s smartphones, thereby reducing the waiting time for charging many times compared to conventional charging technology. You only need a few minutes of charging for many hours of continuous use later.
Quick Charge is used on many smartphones from famous brands such as Samsung, Sony, ASUS, HTC… especially genuine Samsung chargers on high-end product lines.
By increasing the current and voltage, if conventional chargers only have a capacity of 5W corresponding to 5V-1A, Quick Charge technology can charge 5V-2A current (10W backup charger), 9V-1.67A (15W power bank) or even 12V-1.5A (18W power bank) for some tablets.
Quick Charge is Qualcomm’s technology, so it only appears on smartphones using its Snapdragon processor.
Quick Charge 1.0 is available on the Snapdragon 600 series of processors using a voltage of 5V – a maximum charging capacity of 10 W.
Quick Charge 2.0 is available on Snapdragon 200, 400, 800, 810 series processors… using voltage – maximum charging capacity of 18 W.
Of course, not every smartphone using the above processor lines has integrated fast charging, it is important that the manufacturer wants to bring this technology to the product or not.
What is Quick Charge 3.0?
Quick Charge version 3.0 technology continues to accelerate charging speed, up to 38% faster than Quick Charge 2.0 and 2 times faster than Quick Charge 1.0. Thus, compared to devices that only use conventional charging technology, smartphones with Quick Charge 3.0 can shorten the charging time by 4 times.
Although only for a maximum charging capacity of 18 W, the new feature of Quick Charge 3.0 is INOV (Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage) technology that helps provide currents with voltages ranging from 3.2V to 20V, not 5V / fixed. 9V/12V thereby ensuring performance as well as saving more energy.
Necessary and sufficient conditions
To use Quick Charge 3.0, you need to meet the following necessary and sufficient conditions:
Prerequisites: The smartphone you use supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
Eligible conditions: The charger (adapter) must be a type that supports Quick Charge 3.0. You can use the included charger or another similar phone that supports Quick Charge 3.0 or an external charger equipped with this feature.
Power bank with fast charging hot promotion!
If you use a regular charger or charge through a laptop, the charging speed will not be fast.
Of course, Quick Charge technology is backwards compatible, meaning you can also use QC 2.0 or QC 1.0 chargers for smartphones that support QC 3.0, but the speed only corresponds to the old standards.
