What is Continuum?

Continuum is a feature developed by Microsoft to turn Lumia smartphones into a computer. By using an intermediary device called Display Dock , you can connect your Windows Phone to any monitor or TV.

This feature allows you to use applications on Lumia smartphones on a larger screen (such as computers, TVs…) and the interface when activated will be similar to Windows 10 on desktop computers and laptops. . You can manipulate, customize and use the application normally like when working on a computer.

Some applications that can make good use of the Continuum feature are Word, Excel, Power Point… currently unable to play games through the Continuum feature.

How does Continuum work and how to activate?

First we need the Display Dock accessory to mediate connecting the phone to the screen. Included in the Display Dock accessory box are dedicated cables, you just need to plug these cables into the sockets on the Dock (USB Type C, HDMI, USB 2.0…). The screen will display in Full HD format when connected.

Next, you turn on the screen and activate the Continuum mode. The screen will appear an interface similar to the Desktop interface of Windows 10 on the PC. You can go to the internet, store or access some applications. However, not all applications can use it and Microsoft is working to perfect this feature so that users can use more applications.

During the connection process, the phone can act as a mouse pointer touchpad like on a laptop. At the same time, it can also work completely independently (meaning you can both watch videos on the screen and play games on your phone as usual).
