What is full speaker?
Full range speakers, also known as full range speakers or full range speakers , is the common name for most speakers used in stages, halls and weddings.
Full speaker is an audio system that is encapsulated in a speaker box , can output 3 bands – bass, midrange and high sound as well as being able to reproduce sound at many different frequencies . On the market, some common full speakers are double full speakers and single full speakers .
Structure of full speaker
Not much different from other types of speakers, full speakers also have a similar structure.
In particular, the auxiliary speaker cone is usually designed to be small – located inside the diaphragm, capable of enhancing the sound range at high frequencies. In addition, the diaphragm part is made of plastic, paper, metal or synthetic fiber.
Besides, each full cabinet with different design will produce sound with different characteristics, such as:
- Open Baffle Enclosure : usually emits bass at low frequencies.
- Bass Reflex Enclosure : enhances bass thanks to bass reflex in a vented enclosure.
- Back-Loaded Horn Enclosure – BLH (back barrel style): Usually quite large to ensure the length of the trumpet, helping to increase sensitivity and bass reproduction.
Advantages and disadvantages of full speakers in the sound system
Advantages of full speakers
- Transmits natural sound, standard vocals thanks to the audio signal going straight from the amplifier (or digital amplifier and reverb) to the full speaker unit (with a unique structure of 1 speaker box that can output 3 frequency bands without need to use a crossover circuit).
- Outstanding sound reproduction thanks to the diaphragm made of lightweight materials and no LCR components in the crossover, so there is no signal loss.
Disadvantages of full speakers
- May cause distortion in the amplitude and frequency of the sound emitted by the auxiliary cone. You can overcome this situation by using more LCR, but vice versa will reduce the inherent sensitivity of the speaker.
- A narrow frequency range may appear for full speakers using paper diaphragms, thereby failing to meet the sound quality in strong music or multi-instrumental ensembles.
- Having difficulty choosing an amplifier to pair with full speakers, because there are few amps or suitable power amplifiers.
