5G situation in Vietnam

In 2020, Vietnam will become the 5th country in the world to own 5G equipment. Despite having a low starting point, there used to be a lot of people at home and abroad who didn’t believe that Vietnam could do it.

Currently, two large domestic enterprises, Viettel and Vingroup, under the direction of the Ministry of Information and Communications have agreed to cooperate in developing 5G according to the Open RAN open standard. Vingroup focuses on making radio – hardware, Viettel focuses on signal processing – software and integrates into commercial products.

Vietnam currently has 3 major carriers including Viettel, MobiFone and VNPT, which have also successfully tested 5G in big cities like Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City, City. Hanoi, recorded a speed of 600 Mbps to 1.5 Gbps, equivalent to today’s high-end fiber optic internet packages.
