FORGET heading out for brunch this weekend.

Now you can feed all your mates with one giant ostrich egg – which is the equivalent of 24 ordinary chicken ones.

That’s right, Waitrose is now stocking the enormous 2kg monsters, which are every bodybuilder’s dream, but you’re going to need a bigger egg cup.

Shopping at Britain’s poshest supermarket doesn’t come cheap, and you’ll have to fork out £19.99 for just one of these bad boys.

To put that into context, you can buy a dozen eggs for £1.75 at Tesco – so 24 would cost you just £3.50.

What Does Ostrich Egg Taste Like?

Ostrich eggs normally have 4mm thick shells, and cooks are advised to open them with a HAMMER.

Light and buttery in flavour, they take a whopping 50 minutes to hard boil and 10 minutes to cook as a super-sized omelette.

And, whereas a normally egg contains around 80 calories, the ostrich eggs hold a huge 2,000 cals – which is a woman’s entire daily recommended allowance. Gulp.

Waitrose’s eggs are supplied by Clarence Court and come from a farm in Lincolnshire, where they breed free-range South African ostriches.

The ostrich-laying season only runs from March/April to September, and the 27-strong flock are expected to produce around 2,300 eggs – hence the high price tag.

Waitrose only has a limited stock, but Londoners can also get their ostrich egg fix at Florentine, in Lambeth.
