The Big Bang Theory fans spot Sheldon Cooper plot hole as timeline of father’s death fails to add up

SHELDON Cooper has proven to be one of the most problematic characters on The Big Bang Theory – at least when it comes to inconsistencies.

The CBS sitcom wrapped earlier this year and since then fans and new viewers alike have taken to Netflix to watch old episodes.

However, with all the extra eyes on the show a plethora of plot holes have cropped up – and social media is full to the brim with them.

The latest involves Shedon’s (Jim Parsons) relationship with his late father.

The show made no secret of the pair’s relationship being strained, with Sheldon feeling misunderstood by his alcoholic dad up until his death, when Sheldon was just a teenager.

One fan took to Reddit to point out that in the eleventh episode of the show’s debut season, Sheldon recounts being left alone in Germany while ill.

He said we was all alone as his mother had to return home to Texas to help his father with some home repairs.

The Reddit user outlined: “In season 1 episode 11 Sheldon says at age 15, he was left in Germany (where he was visiting a university as a professor, obviously) when he was sick since his mother had to fly back to Texas to help his father since ‘the house had fallen off the cinder blocks again.”

This is all well and good, except for the fact that subsequent information about George Cooper throughout the show’s run doesn’t fit with this.

Sheldon remarks on multiple occasions that he was just 14 when he lost his dad.

Did Sheldon forget when his dad died, or did the writers?

Judging by the replies, fans seem to lean towards the latter.

“Would kill them to get a proofreader?!” one exclaimed in the comments.

While a second chimed in: “It’s great that the characters are complex, I just don’t get how we can keep up but show bosses can’t.”

The gaffe comes after fans previously pitched a conspiracy theory that Howard Wolowitz’s mum had died and their phone calls were all in his head.

Elsewhere, viewers previously noticed something was amiss with the apartment’s elevator.

Meanwhile an aerial shot called the location of the nearby gas station into question.
