Step #2. Scrape off excess grease and oil

Using a spoon, knife or paint scraper, scrape off grease and oil in the surface. It’s not important whether you use plastic or metal as long as you don’t puncture the car seat. So, be very cautious in using sharp objects when removing the stains.

Step #4. Use baking soda and apply it to the stain

Step #5. Use dry cleaning solvent to clean the carpet (if there are remaining residual stains)

If you noticed that there are stains left in the surface, repeat the same process, that’s if you see any improvement when doing so. If you use a particular dry cleaner to blot and sponge the stain, read and follow the instructions indicated on the packaging or manufacturer’s bottle.

If you see that this method is no longer making any difference, then proceed to the next method.

Step #6. Scrub the stain using a degreaser

Using a detergent is often enough in breaking up grease and oil stains, most especially if the stain is still fresh. If the detergent doesn’t work, there are OTC oil or grease remover you can purchase. Using this degreaser is one of the straightforward and most common ways to get rid of oil and grease stains.

Step #7. Steam the area

If there is still a stain left in the surface after using a degreaser, this time, you might need to utilize steam in coaxing the stains out. Using the steamq will allow the carpet’s fibers to heat up, this will open the fiber’s pores up.

It enables the carpet to release trapped oil, giving you the chance to blot it up. When doing this job, you can utilize a traditional steam cleaner.

If there aren’t any available steam cleaner, placing a brown paper bag on top of the stain will absorb the oils. Then you can apply the steam by placing a clothing iron over the bag. This will make steam and heat to free the oils in the surface.
