Shaqir O’Neal turned 15-years old today; the son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal also made some headlines this past week playing up a grade at the PH Series in Los Angeles, California.
Shaqir is already 6’2 and should continue to grow in size and skill. He is an interesting prospect moving forward for obvious reasons. Basketball is in his blood; Shaq’s NBA resume speaks for itself, while his older brother Shareef recently committed to UCLA as well.
Shaqir’s skill set is similar to his brother’s in the sense that he is a good athlete who is both mobile and agile for his height. Whether he can keep that agility as he continues to grow is yet to be seen. Shaqir also has a consistent jump shot; his ability to shoot three’s in transition and off the dribble is exceptional for someone his age.
Moving forward Shaqir will probably become one of the more coveted prospects in college basketball if he keeps improving. Shareef grew to be 6’10 by the time he was a senior and had multiple division I offers from schools including UCLA, Arizona, Baylor, LSU and Kansas State.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if Shaqir followed a similar path like his older brother Shareef.
