Pokemon GO
Pokémon GO’s August Community Day is about as early in the month as you can get, today from 4-7 PM ET. This time, players are going after a very popular Pokémon, Ralts, the Gen 3 psychic/fairy type that is a strong fighting choice in GO in a variety of circumstances.
Ralts is a unique choice because while there is a usually a family of three featured in Community Day, ie. Charmander and its evolutions Charmeleon and Charizard, Ralts is actually a family of four. The Gen 3 tree was Ralts, Kirlia and then Gardevoir, but in Gen 4, a branching evolution was introduced in the form of Gallade, which switches from psychic/fairy to psychic/fight, an interesting combo.
For collectors, that means there are four new shinies being introduces today to collect, in addition to having a Gardevoir and Gallade that knows the special Community Day-only move, Synchronize.
Pokemon GO
As every with Community Day, it’s all about volume, getting as many spawns as you can to maximize your chances of shinies, and good shinies at that. The rate is currently between 5-8%, meaning 1 in every 15 or 1 in every 20 Ralts should give you a shiny, and you are going to want to get at least two, considering you need two evolutions to get a shiny Gardevoir and Gallade, which will have blue accents instead of green. Ralts will be permanently shiny in the game after this, as in any random one you encounter could be shiny, but this your best shot at getting one relatively easily, so don’t miss it. Remember to activate three hour lures near you, and to have incense running, as that will spawn the Community Day Pokémon at an increase frequency as well.
Then it’s evolution time. This is the second Community Day where we have access to the IV appraisal system which shows you the exact stats of your Pokémon, meaning you can pick your best shiny and evolve it. Gardevoir is just a normal evolution, while Gallade is going to require a Sinnoh Stone, which can be found through research tasks or PvP battles. Hopefully by this point you have saved a few for a special occasion, as this certainly qualifies. You literally only have this one shot to get a shiny Gallade with Synchornize as a move, as if you don’t get a Sinnoh Stone and use it by the end of the day, that will never be possible again. The pressure!
Anyway, Ralts and its evolutions are great and I am looking forward to hunting them today. See you out there!
