Description
Hello, Everyone! I’m back again, and with something you’ve all been requesting: my first “How to Draw Naruto Characters” official tutorial.
Now, first I feel I must give credit to my mentor, Mark Crilley, whom without his book “Mastering Manga”, I would not have been able to create this well structured tutorial. Thank you for all the inspiration, Mark!
Next, let me safely say that I will be explaining each step, so everyone will have idea of how to approach this tutorial.
And also keep in mind that you don’t have to get everything perfect. Just have fun with it! And do your best!
Lets begin!
Step 1: Build a circle
First you want to build a circle for the head. To do so, take a 12 or 15 inch ruler, and make 2 inch horizontal and vertical lines that intersect on one another. Easy, right?
Step 2: Create facial guide lines
After you finish Step 1, you want to draw a circle around the two intersecting lines. It should look like you have 4 pizza slices now lol. And for the facial guide lines break the lower half of the circle into 4 equal pieces. (Use your ruler if it’ll help).
Step 3: Draw the Jaw
Here you want to pay close attention to how you approach the curve of the jaw. Part 1 Neji has a slightly curved jaw at the tip. Try to copy what you do on one side to the other.
Step 4: Add the Facial Features
For the eyes, use the 3rd and 4th horizontal lines of the circle. Each a eye should be measured 1 eye length apart, and should almost touch the circle line. Begin the headband line at about between the 2nd and 3rd line with a slight curve at each end. The mouth should be about the width of the space between the eyes, and placed between to the nose and tip of the jaw.
Step 5: Add the ears
For the ears start at 4th line and stop between the the nose and eyes. Also, add straps to his headband.
Step 6: Almost done!
Finish off the head band by adding the metal plate with the leaf symbol. Don’t worry about the details of the leaf symbol, just get the shape down correct. Begin drawing the hair at the top vertical line of the circle, at about 1/4 of half the circle. Add the neck and the neck collar of his shirt. And above all, don’t worry about being symmetrical (even). It’s not that important.
Final step: Ink the Drawing
Here’s where the fun part comes. Make sure you happy with all your guide lines before you ink. Also, stay loose and take your time–you don’t want to fumble after getting this far, right?
And that’s it!
So, I hope this tutorial will be helpful to you all, and if not, please feel free to give me any suggestion that will make future lessons more coherent.
Thanks, All! And Happy Drawing!
