Nuketown Is Free For All ‘Black Ops 3’ Players Starting Today

The popular Black Ops map “Nuketown” is available for free today for all players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The map first debuted as Nuketown with the original Call of Duty: Black Ops game, and again as Nuketown 2025 in Black Ops II. Now it’s “Nuk3town” with a “3” instead of an “e” because, well, this is Black Ops III.

I dove into the map after having not really played much Black Ops III multiplayer in a while. The map is pretty much what you’d expect with some not insignificant changes. The most obvious of these is the color, which is just eye-popping and almost a little distracting. There’s also moving hologram-looking stuff floating above some of the structures, so the whole map feels much more alive and in motion than before.

Some other small changes have been made to make the map a bit more vertical, giving players more options for the parkour elements in Black Ops III, such as wall-running. It’s pretty cool, even if I was super rusty.

Players will also receive a Nuk3town personalization pack which includes a weapon camo, three new weapon reticles and a calling card—all Nuk3town themed. A 24/7 Nuk3town playlist will run for the next week as well, though the map will also find its way into general rotation.
