Background

Lisette Lee, also known as the “Pot Princess of Beverly Hills,” lived a mysterious life of privilege and luxury for years—all the while falsely claiming to be an heiress to the Samsung corporation—until she was arrested for narcotics trafficking in 2010. Arrest in Ohio

In June 2010, a 28-year-old Lee was arrested by officials from the Drug Enforcement Administration at Port Columbus International Airport in Ohio’s capital after arriving there on a chartered jet from Van Nuys, California, with 13 large suitcases, two assistants and a bodyguard. Inside the suitcases, officials reportedly found more than 500 pounds of marijuana, estimated at $500,000. When questioned, Lee told officials that she was a model and a recording artist, and that she was transporting items to a horse farm-owning boyfriend in Ohio. She was charged with felony counts of possession of marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

A plea deal reportedly allowed her to received a reduced sentence (to the mandatory minimum 10-year prison sentence) for her crime.
