Rocker turned movie star — and as of Monday, a Golden Globe nominee — Alana Haim will pay a visit to Nashville later this week to introduce a sold-out preview screening of “Licorice Pizza” at the Belcourt Theatre.
Tickets for the Dec. 16 screening were snatched up immediately upon going on sale Sunday.
“Licorice Pizza” is the latest from venerated filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson (“Phantom Thread,” “There Will Be Blood,” “The Master”). The ’70s-set coming-of-age comedy stars Haim and Cooper Hoffman — son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, a frequent Anderson collaborator.
Haim is best known as one-third of sibling rock trio Haim. “Licorice Pizza” is her big screen debut, and on top of rave reviews, she’s just earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
If you missed out on tickets, you’ll still be able to see “Licorice Pizza” and its star in Nashville in due time. The film opens at the Belcourt on Christmas Day, and Haim — the band —just announced a 2022 tour that comes to Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater on May 20.
