I wonder where Thereel is? The homophobic mentally retarded pathological lying poster who got angry when people didn’t believe In his thinking such as a 6’4 15/16 is 6’4”? Or who didbut agree with him that Kobe was 6’5.75? That claimed he met Big Stormzy and that he was gonna play pro ball? That guy. Wonder if he was banned?

@Bradley: he was almost 6’5” barefoot. I doubt he was just 6’4”. He actually looks taller than MJ in pics. If 6’6 was your afternoon low peak height, he would end up at about 6’4.75 and Jordan 6’4.5” Rodman maybe 6’6.5”.
Bradley said on 23/Aug/22
“6-5 in sneaks” in his own words is correct. Seems correct with all the players I met photographed with him like Rodman, Michael. I’m 6-6 peak.

I saw a video with Kobe and Luka Doncic, and Luka who is between 198-201 cm according to the Internet is significantly taller in that pic. Which would make the old claim 198 cm for Kobe ridiculous. He was no more than 194 cm i think, he was like the height of Alexander Skarsgard or Jeff Goldblum, maybe an inch taller.

@Meltdown: Kobe had a high eye level and a small head which gave the appearance it was more than it was. It was max 4” between he and Obama. You also have to take into account that one could’ve been up longer than the other and that one may have had thicker dress shoes. I have never seen Kobe in a dress shoe that was less than about 3cm whereas I’ve seen Obama in some that are 1” or less

@Warren: from all I’ve seen, Kobe is taller than MJ. One thing that stands out to me is how often Kobe looks 6’5 and how often I’ve seen Jordan look 6’4-6’5 range. Jordan measured 6’4.5 when he was drafted and I don’t believe he actually grew. Now I do believe that to be his afternoon/evening height so if that’s the case an6’4 5/8 lunch would be accurate. Therefore, Rob isn’t that far off. A guy who measures 6’4.75 at his low isn’t going to look 6’4-6’5 all that often. They’d look the full 6’5 generally. Kobe edged out guys like Michael Redd who I believe was a morning measurement at 6’4.75 and is actually more 6’4 range. Redd is probably similar to me in height at 6’4.25”.
So my guesses are
Kobe 6’4.75 maybe a hair over
Jordan 6’4.5”
Both at their afternoon lows. If anything, Rob considers the lunchtime to be the standard meaning Jordan may need a downgrade of 1/8” while Kobe 1/8” upgrade. However, there is no consistency as guys like Steph Curry and James Harden are listed at morning heights. I can argue that maybe Harden was at more of a 2 hour out of bed height when he was measured and maybe he’s 6’3.75 but he isn’t taller than that. I’d have said 6’3 5/8” and Curry 6’1.5”. Rob tends to use the measurement he sees on record unless he has evidence to support an increase or a reduction. Another one is Tom Brady but he reduced him 1/8” off of his combine. Brady May be listed at his lunchtime as I could buy 6’4 1/8 at his afternoon but I could also see 6’4 flat
I will say that Kobe wasn’t a full 6’5 being I’ve seen Caron Butler and he looked slightly taller than Kobe and Caron wasn’t much taller than me (he had me by about an inch) and he did measure 6’5.25”.
Meltdown said on 31/Jul/22
I’m guessing he was a strong 6ft 5 or maybe 6ft 5.5. Seeing him with 6ft 1 Obama makes anything under hard to believe.

Kobe had 5 inches on Obama, hence it’s reasonable to assume with similar footwear I’m sure, Obama is 5ft 11 1/2 or 6ft flat.
@Max: It looks more than it actually is. Kobe has a high eye level. It’s about a 4” difference with them. If you see Metta World Peace with Obama it’s more difference. Metta Artest is taller than Kobe and admitted to 6’5 1/2”. I’m not sure how with guys like Vujecic and Artest being that height why you would assume they’re taller than listed and that Kobe is taller than he’s listed

@Bigrobfan:
Here is Vujecic next to Kobe. Vujecic measured 6’5.5”. Kobe looks as listed here next to him. 6’4.75 is accurate. Kobe is Also shorter than Metta World Peace who claimed to be 6’5.5”. Not sure if those 6’5.5 measurements are lows for either but they aren’t far off their lows if so. Maybe lunchtime. I’d by Vujecic being the stronger 6’5.5 of the two. Kobe at most was a guy who measured 195-195.5 range. If he was over 6’4.75 it was maybe 6’4.8. At times he could look 6’4.5 to be honest. I only give him the 6’4.8 being possible because he usually looked taller than Jordan who measured 6’4 1/2 when he was drafted and still was that throughout his career. The 6’4.75 was likely after being awake 2-3 hours or so. But if you see Jordan and Kobe it was touch and go. They looked generally the same height. And next to 6’7.5 Magic Johnson Kobe looked 2-3 inches shorter and Jordan about 3”. It wasn’t much difference.

Have you seen pics with Kobe and Caron Butler? I’ve also met Butler. He’s no more than He measured (6’5.25”). He had me by an inch at most. Caron is taller than Kobe by a hair. Also the most telling evidence is Rick Fox and Sasha Vujecic. Rob met Fox and said he’s under 6’6 more than likely. Fox has an inch or close to it on Kobe. Vujecic measured 6’5.5 and he’s got at least half inch on Kobe if not 2 cm. Then Rhett Mclaughlin and Rob Gronkowski both are around 6’6. The former is over the latter is prob a solid 6’6 or under and both edge Kobe. Kobe wasn’t more than he’s listed here. Rob did his homework and he’s right. Same with Metta World Peace. Metta admitted to 6’5,5 and he’s taller than Kobe in pics.
Some food for thought. If all of these guys are really this tall and Kobe is shorter, Kobe wasn’t 6’6”. Also you don’t realize that Kobe had a high eye level because he had a small head. That made him appear taller than he was
@Trae Stan: Kobe has a high eye level so it gives the illusion. I could buy 4.5-4.75 range though

The average American claims their height equivalent in shoes anyway, both backed up by personal anecdotes and data.
Canson said on 15/May/22
@Ice Cold: Kobe had a high eye level and small forehead head etc. Also, hearing how frequently he used a helicopter, he likely was able to lay down inside versus sitting up in a car. At that stage him measuring 6’5” or over isn’t as far fetched. 6’4.75 should get him guessed at 6’5”. And if he were in thick sneakers that’s 1.25”. But a 6’5-6’6 guess for Kobe or Jordan or even Barkley in his prime isn’t far fetched being they were all 6’4.75 (Kobe most likely) and 6’4.5 to .75 range (possibly Barkley and Jordan) but both may have been slightly less. That means they’d all be 6’5-6’6 in shoes. Yes shoe height is fraudulent but it’s how people estimate at times

@Canson,
I agree. I can safely say Novak Djokovic is around 6’1 1/2” as I’ve met Andy Murray, and he appeared to be no more than 6’2” flat. Could he have been 6’1 7/8”? It’s possible, but I wouldn’t go under that; in fact, I don’t think the full 6’2” is impossible for him. I think Ovechkin is either Novak’s height, or just a small fraction shorter.

Canson said on 23/Feb/22
@Celebheights 6’1.5: I agree on Novak as well. 186-187 for him. Means Ovechkin is around the same. Worst case maybe a solid 186 but best case maybe 187. That adds up with a 195ish Kobe (weak6’5 like you mentioned). Rob probably has Kobe listed accurately (a guy who may well measure 6’5.5 out of bed and “near 6’5” at lunch more precisely 6’4 7/8 and 6’4.75 in the afternoon). I’d like to see Rob list Ovechkin here. 6’1.5 May be a fair listing for him too
Canson said on 23/Feb/22
@Celebheights 6’1.5: yea that’s definitely realistic for Ovie. Around 6’1 could mean your height.

Celebheights 6’1.5″ said on 23/Feb/22
@Canson,
I think Ovechkin is around 186-187 centimeters tall, since it’s nearly impossible to tell who is taller between he and Novak in every photo. Factoring that in, Kobe appears to be a weak 6’5” compared to both of them.
And I have Novak at 6’1 1/2”, since I think he’d measure 1-1.5 centimeters taller than Roger Federer, and a full centimeter shorter than Andy Murray.
Canson said on 22/Feb/22
@Celebheights: that looks pretty accurate with Ovie. People who I know who’ve met him guessed he’s around 6’1”. I’ve gone to some Caps games but never met him unfortunately. Around could mean give or take 1/4”. May be strong 6’1”. I agree with the rest he looks like a legit 195 cm guy next to the others mentioned

Agreed on your estimates. Solid 6’4 3/4” afternoon guy and very close to 6’5” at lunchtime.
Canson said on 8/Feb/22
So if lunchtime height is the real standard 6’4 7/8”. I have 6’4.75” for him and that was his afternoon
6’5.5 out of bed
6’5 1/8 to 1/4 after 1 hour
6’5 to 6’5 1/8 after 2-3
6’4 7/8 after 5
6’4.75 after maybe 7 hours on
Extreme low prob was 6’4.5. Not a height he reached daily but a fair claim since he could measure that or within some mm of it maybe 6’4 1/2-5/8”. I’m not seeing how it’s a bad claim when other guys claim heights right out of bed or within an hour of waking or even shoes. Likely that he just rounded down however from 6’4.75”. If I were say 6’4 5/8 or Maybe 194.5-194.7, I’d claim 6’4 1/2. At my afternoon and especially lunch, I’d claim 6’4 1/2”. If 6’4.75 or more then round up. Kobe had a good chance of a solid 195 however which isn’t far off that 6’4 1/2” claim either but a bit much for 6’4”. However, if a 6’3 guy afternoon can claim 6’4 not seeing why he couldn’t too. At least he fell into the 6’4-5 range

@Dillon: with someone like Kobe’s height it’s done more for effect. 6’4 3/4” is closer to 6’4 than 6’6 is what they’re saying. They do understand that it’s closer to 6’5”. As for your height, that makes sense that they believe that you’re 6’4. I’d do the same thing when I thought I was 6’4.5”. Id round down sometimes. My mother was peak 5’6.5” I believe and she just claimed 5’6”. She’s like 5’6 or 5’5 1/2”-5’6 range now
Dillon Rice said on 5/Feb/22
@Cbrady
Yeah I did post that, and the 6 foot mark came to my nose tip. Granted the tape measure might not have been completely straight so idk. I think my forehead is a little on the shorter side. That might be why I’m not taller than 6’4.5”.
Dillon Rice said on 5/Feb/22
@Canson
Yeah I think sports would be one of the main advantages for me of being 6’6”. It’s only 1.5 inches above my current height so wouldn’t be much of a change. Tbh 6’6” sounds cool when it’s said and is a rare height, so those are factors too, as silly as it sounds.
My parents will actually round my height to 6’5” when mentioning my height to others. I tell them I’m 6’4.5”, but it’s like “just round up!”. Other day when I came in the basketball court, some guy asked my height and I said 6’4.5” and he replied with “Okay so 6’4”. He went back to the crowd of people he was playing with and said “No guys they aren’t 7 feet tall”. I guess when you’re very tall, some people can mistake you for much taller. And people will discount the fraction to make it simple sometimes, even if it’s 3/4”. When Kobe’s height came out as 6’4 3/4”, people would say “Oh so he’s 6’4” not 6’6” and it’s like “no he’s nearly 6’5”.
Cbrady said on 4/Feb/22
@ Dillon Rice: I seem to remember a selfie you posted a little while back of yourself standing against a metal tape measure and the six foot mark came to the bridge of your nose. Keeping this in mind, how can you be ‘only’ 6-4.5 range?
Canson said on 1/Feb/22
@Dillon: I think 6’6 barefoot is really only valuable if you’re using the height in sports. Ali Baba, a poster here who still drops by from time to time, is 6’6 (maybe a hair under today at about 6’5.75 as he’s lost some height) has even said that it’s a bit much for day to day life
Canson said on 31/Jan/22
@Dillon: when I was a kid I wanted to be 6’6 because I believed Michael Jordan was that. However I later found out he wasn’t and seeing how a barefoot 6’6” really looks and being the height I am now, I wouldn’t want to be 6’6”. Ideal for most tall guys is something like 6’3” or 6’2.5”. I’d say ideal for me would be a solid 193 cm since I’m already accustomed to being 6’4”. Meaning a solid 6’4” at my afternoon height or 6’3 7/8”. But I’m okay with 6’4.25” too. I liked the half at first and it was cool to claim it but I got tired of being asked why I did and why I didn’t just say 6’5 or why did I bother with the half? I’d get from a shorter guy who was probably 5’6, “well you’re 6’5 so..”. No I’m not 6’5” and I don’t claim 6’5” or from a guy who was honest at least and said he’s 5’11 but claimed 6’0” “you know, you could say you’re 6’5 if you want”? Yes I know I could but I don’t because I’m closer to 6’4”. Those are just two examples of guys wanting to be taller. But the more common was from my circle some of who are taller than me. I have a 6’5.25, 6’6, and 6’7 (all afternoon heights) that claim 6’5, 6, and 7. They would ask why do I bother with the half or why do I want to sound taller or why do I push the envelope? Then they took me to task on that half once to tell me I’m not and I was like 6’4 1/4 or 6’4 1/3”. The last time definitely 6’4 1/4 however or even a little less as it was late night. So I just stick with 6’4” unless I need to get specific then it’s 6’4.25”. I also got that from a guy and his wife (older couple) when the lady asked how tall I was and she insisted I was taller. This was many years ago. Her husband knew I was what I claimed and asked why I bother with the half and that I’m tall enough as is

I personally don’t mind claiming it, but I do wish I was a half inch taller at 6’5”. I wouldn’t have to claim the half and I’d rather be 6’5”. I’ve always said my ideal height is about 6’6”, but really anything above 6 feet is tall so it’s all preference. I don’t often see anyone that height or taller on the basketball court as most people are 6’4” or under typically, so you’d almost always be the tallest on the court in most gyms.

@Dillon: I hated claiming it. That’s why I just claim 6’4” now instead. You could do the same. Just say a little over 6’4 or a little under 6’5” if you think the half is a problem. At the 1/4” over I just say 6’4 and when I have that issue being over the mark I go with 6’4.25”
Dillon Rice said on 23/Jan/22
@Canson
Yeah probably is. It is a little annoying having to claim the half, but it is what it is.
Canson said on 20/Jan/22
@Dillon: yea I’ve dipped to 6’4 flat before and that’s my extreme low. It takes a lot for that to happen though and it’s if I’m on my feet for hours after hitting 6’4.25”. I only lose 3/4 in a day usually. And I agree with you as I consider 6’4.25 my actual height despite 6’4 being my extreme low. I just round down to 6’4” and claim it. I’ve claimed 6’4.5 before too but got tired of being told I should round up to 6’5 or down to 6’4 the latter of which I get from my immediate circle asking why I bothered with half and then always telling me I’m 6’4” more so than 5. They use their afternoon heights and in reality I am closer to 6’4 at that.
Your case is def an extreme low. Times I’ve gotten to 6’4 I can get back to 6’4.25 just sitting for a while
Dillon Rice said on 19/Jan/22
@Canson
And yeah it’s probably an extreme low I’m guessing. Typically don’t fall below 6’4.5” on most days.
Dillon Rice said on 19/Jan/22
@Canson
Do you fall to 6’4” flat ever? I think if you hold at or above a height claim for most of the day, you’re probably okay claiming it. To claim a height doesn’t mean you absolutely can’t fall under it under any circumstances.
Canson said on 19/Jan/22
@Dilllon: possibly but that could be extreme low territory though for you. I still play occasionally and when I do or when I work out, I can go below 6’4.25 often
Dillon Rice said on 19/Jan/22
Back up to 6’4.5” after a couple hours of sitting. There’s probably the claim I’ll stick with since I stay at or above it most of the day. Basketball tends to accelerate height loss.
Dillon Rice said on 19/Jan/22
@Canson
Turns out I’m probably closer to your height than I thought. For the first several hours of the day I was mostly sedentary doing some studying, but in the evening I played a few games of basketball, then came home and took a shower and I measured about 6’4 1/4” to 6’4 3/8”. Most of my days aren’t very active and I’m not standing a lot typically so maybe I’m not quite as tall as I thought I was.

yeah, i agree.demar definitely deserves a page he is an mvp candidate nowdays.he measured 6ft5 1/4 (196.2) in 2009 and he honestly looks around it maybe he is in the 6ft4 3/4-6ft5 range i think that he is very similar to kobe and here he is with 193.5-194 lonzo and 194-194.5 zach lavine

and he looks taller than both so i believe a 6ft5 (195.6) listing for demar would be good.

@Editor Rob: how about a page for DeMar Derozan? Measured 6’5.25” early morning at the combine. Claimed 6’5 here during his draft interview in 2009. Also remember 2009 was a confirmed morning measurement. Actually can look a solid 6’5 all things considered

Dillon Rice said on 4/Jan/22
@Canson
Yeah Lavine is probably closer to 6’4.25” afternoon based on how he looks with Lonzo and Derozan. Kobe was most likely a solid 6’4.75” in the evening imo.
Canson said on 3/Jan/22
@Dillon: Kobe can look maybe half inch taller but we don’t know what time of the day Lavine was measured. I doubt he’s an afternoon 6’4.5 considering DeMar Derozan was a morning 6’5.25 (his was confirmed morning as part of the 09 class). I’ve seen 6’5.5 for DeRozan in 09 too so maybe he was a solid 6’5” but he could look 6’4.75 at times. Everyone in that class measured .5-.75” taller than 2008 if they were measured (Danny Green Wayne Ellington Ty Lawson). Lavine could be 6’4.25 maybe but I doubt any higher. Kobe on the other hand is almost a given that that 6’4.75 was his afternoon height. That’s the issue is that there is no consistency in the times or the measurements. You brought up Richard Jefferson. If he were 6’7.25 barefoot and 6’8.75 in shoes he would be listed at at least 6’8”. He was always listed 6’7”. And looked 6’6 range with Kmart and Vince Carter who looked 6’5 flat more often than not (sometimes even less). Carter makes sense tho as they could’ve measured earlier in the day and rounded up from 1/4 or 3/8” range. Kobe would’ve measured higher than 6’4.75 at a pre draft event but he skipped it

@Hyper well he should’ve,since he’s never 6’6 to begin with, and Rhett is a strong 6’6, maybe even 6’6,5. if he stnad up straight, there would be around 1.5-2 inches diffeence between them, i believe Kobe’s height was around 195 cm range or 6’4 3/4

@Canson Dalen Terry looks to be a little bit taller than Kobe in the December 2019 photo they had and he’s listed 6’6” in high school. Graduated in 2020.
@Dillon: that’s interesting. I see 6’6 and 6’7 listings for Terry. And I saw Sean Miller refer to him as 6’6/6’7 but that happens all the time. That could be his height in shoes. But he looks to be taller than Kobe so I’d almost believe it’s his barefoot height. I also wonder if Kobe’s posture makes the difference look greater than it really is. He doesn’t appear to be standing as tall. But I do see how it’s gonna be at least 1” even if Kobe stood straight. He’s listed 6’7 with Arizona. That could mean 6’5.5-6’6 for most guys or 6’5 for others. Some are 6’6 range but not a lot. High school listings are just as bad. I was listed 6’4 when I was 6’2 range and then 6’5 when I measured 6’3 range and they never changed it when I hit 6’4”. Then college I was listed 6’5 for the first few games then 6’6” thereafter. They measured me around 6’4 1/2 but I believe it was earlier in the day or was rounded possibly. I’ve also been told 6’4.75 but that was fed early morning since that’s what I measure after being up less than an hour. I’m 6’4 5/8 after an hour. Maybe it was that and they rounded up to 3/4”. I didn’t validate either. Lol I asked once why I wasn’t listed 6’5” like I had been and they didn’t bother to change it because we had a 6’3 and change guy listed 6’5” and a 5’11-6’0 range guy listed 6’2 (he was listed 6’3 in high school). This guy may have barely made 6’ but I think he’s a weak 6’. And I had one teammate who measured 6’5.5-.75 and 6’6 earlier in the day and he got a 6’7 listing which he still claims today 🤦♂️ and inflates everyone. Funny thing is he met Carmelo Anthony too and he called him 6’7/6’8” but that confirms my sighting since he claims a height in shoes. I pointed out the 6’6.25” measurement to him and he said that’s about right for his barefoot height so I’ll give him credit there. He said he was probably slightly taller as in half inch or so is what he said and he claims 6’7”. I pointed out that he himself is 6’5 5/8 or so but I believe although he says he’s 6’6 barefoot. He’s roughly an inch and a half taller than me. I’d say 3-4 cm. He said Melo was fractionally taller and it wasn’t as noticeable as it was with me where it was obvious that he’s a good 2” taller. Melo looks like at least a strong 198/weak 199 range guy. I’d tread toward weak 199 or no worse than 198.5. He looks 3 inches shorter than Nene in those pics. The only player who was at or within an inch of their measurement at a low was my legit 6’7 friend who could measure 6’7-6’7 1/8 afternoon height. He was a solid 6’7 last time we checked and was listed 6’8” on the roster and 6’9” when he first got there. I think they changed his for some reason. But He played high school ball with me too but he’s 2 years ahead of me. I believe he was listed 6’8 in high school and even 6’9” sometimes

Kobe for me is like LeBron. He can easily look taller than his listing on here many times over, but looks his listing sometimes so it’s frustrating to gauge his height. He’s 6’4.75”, but somehow he’s taller than 6’5” Cam Newton, but the he’s the same height as 6’4.5” Jamal Crawford. Go figure.

@Dillon: Barkley measured 6’4 5/8” peak but not sure he’s still that. I think around my height now though at worst. Then again we can’t see the ground and I’m not sure that’s an inch between them if they’re standing straight. That’s why I like full body shots. With Kobe and Vasquez, Kobe’s closer to the camera. With Cassipi on the other hand it appears Cassipi may have some advantage but easier to tell because it’s full body shot more so. I’d give Cassipi an easy 2.5-3” though. Cassipi could be as tall as 6’7.75 but as low as 6’7.25 in the pic imho. Kobe does have that uncanny ability to appear taller than he is in some pics though but then with Kawhi Leonard who I’d estimate to be a weak 6’6 (6’5.75) he can look taller. Maybe Kawhi is the full 6’6 like next to Paul George although it’s tricky because he doesn’t have the body proportions of a 6’6 guy. I would’ve guessed him no taller than 6’5” if I had nothing to compare him against. He has a definite advantage on Kobe though so it’s clear he’s not that low.
This one isn’t that good
Click Here
Kawhi is favored here
Click Here
In this one Kobe isn’t standing straight at all and Kawhi is favored. I’d still say Kawhi is taller
Click Here
Then with JR Rider who measured 6’4.5 (he’s probably 6’4) he looks over 6’5 but from the angle. When you see him on the court with Kobe when they played together in 2000-01 Kobe didn’t look more than an inch taller and the inch is the max meaning Kobe could be in the 195-195.3 range (maybe at best a touch over 6’4.75) and JR 6’4”
I will say that I doubt Kuzma is much less than 6’8 flat. He measured it in 2017 and was listed that way in 2019. I think that’s his normal afternoon height. He looked over an inch taller than Brandon Ingram in that pic I posted but I think it’s a product of loose posture from Ingram. Ingram’s height has never been confirmed suffice to say he was listed 6’7 by the Pelicans in 2019 when they measured barefoot so it’s likely that’s the max he is at his low (6’7” flat) and he could look shorter than Tatum.

The only problem is Kobe is leaning in too. Then again we can’t see what they are standing on, Kobe could be standing on a higher ground and have footwear advantage. But at a glance it appears Kobe is taller. Then again Vasquez might be more 6’4.25” rather than .75” because he was measured in 2010 when heights were taken within an hour of waking I think.

@Johno: a former colleague of mine was a peak 6’3.75” guy and he would claim 6’4” as most would. He was only about 1/2” or so shorter than me and maybe a low of 6’3 5/8” to 3/4”. When we discussed height years ago he said he was 6’4 in shoes. A lot of people do that. Not necessarily saying that he is only 6’4 flat in shoes or that Kobe is only 6’5 flat in shoes but that they’re not the full 6’4” or full 6’5”.

Yeah I would think right out of bed would be uncommon seeing as how they have to walk down there from their room.
Canson said on 30/Oct/21
@Dillon: if someone is 6’5.5” out of bed in shoes (especially basketball shoes) they’re gonna be a weak 6’4”. That would put them 6’3.5 or in a 1” shoe 6’3.75”. But that’s a good example as I would be 6’6.25 in a basketball sneaker out of bed since it adds 1.25”. But I doubt a lot of players are measured right out of bed although I don’t rule it out for some. I think the majority of players at the combines are around an hour or two then some may be later but still not at a low. Instead they may be 1/4” above their low if later in the day
Dillon Rice said on 28/Oct/21
@Canson
I believe that 6’5.36” measurement was incorrect. When I got measured 6’4.5” at the gym by someone about 7 hours out of bed and then came home and got 6’4.5” myself, that confirmed to me that I couldn’t have been 6’5.36” 1.5 hours out of bed. I shouldn’t be measuring above 6’5” flat at that point of the day, given those measurements at the gym and home.
Dillon Rice said on 28/Oct/21
@Canson
Yeah I think you’re right in that falling to 6’4.25” at an extreme low wouldn’t disqualify me from 6’4.5”. I’m probably pulling at straws a little. I don’t see my extreme low very often as I’m usually at or above 6’4.5”. Also when I measure myself several times at once I do tend to get fatigued a little I think. Sometimes I feel like a measurement was bad so I double and triple check and my arms probably fatigue a little cause I have to hold the canister above my head and that could result in my posture being worse.
The thing with measured heights with athletes is you don’t know when they were measured and if they were wearing footwear. Someone can get 6’5.5” out of bed with shoes on and be rounded up to 6’6” and listed as such. In reality they are probably more like 6’4” flat afternoon or even less depending on the thickness of the shoe. Some shoes can give up to 2 inches or maybe even more I think.
Canson said on 26/Oct/21
@Dillon: when I was listed 6’4, I wasn’t quite 6’4. I was 6’2 range then. Even when listed 6’5 I may have been a weak 6’4 and was still listed 6’5 when I was a full 6’4 near then end. I was still listed 6’5” in college in the beginning but not sure if it’s because I told them I was 6’4” once when someone asked me. They did measure me and said 6’4 1/2” but I didn’t understand height then and how it fluctuated. I’m also not sure if I wasn’t just 6’4,25 to 3/8 all along and they rounded it up like they did for Quincy Taylor (6’4.3ish in boots on the stadio meter) albeit mine was barefoot. I can vaguely remember a 6’4,75 measurement once or at least was told I was that. But you get early morning practices and measurements at times
Canson said on 26/Oct/21
@Dillon: something is up with your height if you dip to 6’4.25 from where you measure in the morning. Granted if you’re 6’5.25 and dip to 6’4.5 normally like you say and then 6’4.25 at an extreme low that would make sense. But you’ve said before that you’re 6’5.36 after an hour? If 6’4.5 is your normal low and 6’4.25 your extreme I’d go with 6’4 1/2” but that’s me personally. But 6’4 is fair for a claim. Only thing is you’re far enough over 6’4” to where it will be more noticeable. But my perception is that if a 6’3 guy can claim 6’4 or 6’5 or if you get someone my size measuring out of bed that claims it then why can’t someone who is a solid 6’4.5 not claim 6’4 if they don’t feel like rounding up? I round down 6’4.25 which is my normal low to 6’4 albeit it’s closer to 6’4 for most of the day since I’m under half after maybe 3 hours and start coming down between 2-3 and hit 6’4 3/8 after 5 usually. My extreme low is also 6’4 flat. I don’t see an issue though with claiming 6’4 for you either. From the way it looks you measure 1/4” taller than me and if that’s the case you are probably 6’5.25 out of bed being im 6’5 flat out of bed. I’ll be 40 in less than three months so maybe I’ve lost height or I’m losing it but my lmeasurement was exactly 6’5 out of bed the last two times I’ve done it and 6’4.25 afternoon whereas I used to be 1/16 over each. Then again I’m not sure if the 1/16” was with extra sleep and not being on my feet as long. Either way I still go with 6’4” as my claim. But that’s my issue with someone 6’4,5 being forced to claim 6’5” because they dip below the mark at some point even if it’s just the occasional extreme low
Dillon Rice said on 26/Oct/21
@Canson
That’s interesting. Shows how you can’t trust college rosters either when it comes to height. Whenever I see a guy listed 6’5” on a college roster I’m thinking he’s about my height even though I’m sub 6’5”. Apparently I can dip down to 6’4.25” as I just found out today after 9.5-10 hours out of bed, basketball and a shower. Not sure whether to claim 6’4” or 6’4.5”, but if I can fall a quarter inch below my claim I don’t really feel comfortable claiming it.
Canson said on 23/Oct/21

@Dillon: I wouldn’t be completely surprised if Redick is under 6’3” afternoon height. Some guys who measure earlier in the day at 6’3.25 still get listed 6’4 and someone who is 6’3.75 out of bed would be 6’3 flat afternoon and get a 6’3 3/8 or 6’3 1/2” measurement and get listed 6’4” still. I don’t know where Redick falls though but I would assume he is 6’3”. He honestly looked taller next to Sheldon Williams who I thought looked over 6’7 when I saw him up close

I always thought Redick was 6’3” barefoot. Thought I saw the measurement on draft express a while ago. Lin at 6’3” would make Kobe 6’6” minimum so we can’t have Lin at 6’3” and Kobe 6’4.75. The 6’3” could have been in shoes shortly out of bed, but I doubt it. His height is hard to pinpoint.

@Dillon: yea that’s what they’ve done with a lot of players. I saw JJ Redick was 6’4 barefoot and 6’4.75” in shoes. Redick albeit retired was listed 6’3” from 2019 on when they measured him barefoot. Lin’s 6’3 is hard to believe but I could see 6’2 next to Curry perhaps

@Dillon: yea but a lot of pics like that with Kobe or Melo against shorter guys make them appear taller from that type of angle. Same with Lebron or Jordan. I can’t find a good one of Kobe and Lin nor could I of Melo and Lin although I did previously of them and it looked 4-5” between them
An example of Kobe looking taller and shorter due to camera angle. He looks almost as tall as Boozer but both look a lot shorter than Julius Randle when Randle and Boozer are probably the same height or near it
Lin is also in the pic below. Randle measured 6’7.75 and looks it in other pics with Kobe. I think that’s a low for randle
Click Here
Then in this pic Kobe can look 6’4.75 (Kareem Rush is right next to him and has a 6’4.5 measurement on record. Likely that isn’t his low but we can agree that 6’4.75 would be a low for Kobe. He wouldn’t be under this on a normal day hence why he looks 6’5)
Click Here
Same with this one where Lin looks small
Click Here
Then Lin with 6’2 morning measured Steph curry (curry should be listed 6’1.5” here being other players in his draft class measured 1/2” shorter in 2008 than they did in 2009 due to time of day
Click Here
In the video they had Lin could look marginally taller. But Honestly I’m stumped. Lin’s height looks all over the place. Usually he looks much much shorter than he measured. I’m beginning to think you may be right and that maybe he measured the 6’3 in shoes and May either be a weak 6’2” guy like Rob said or that could be a morning shoe height and he’s 6’1.5”. I think 6’1.75 is in order given Kobe wouldn’t be less than 3” taller. Then again the standard here isn’t perfect. Rob has Kobe at his afternoon but Harden and curry at morning heights and Jordan is more like a lunchtime or even a 2-4 hours out of bed. I’ve always had Jordan around your height.

Rob listing Kobe 6’4.75” and Lin 6’2” just doesn’t match up. One of them has to be inaccurate.

@Dillon: madam Tussaud’s had a statue of him that someone showed here. He looked 6’2 in shoes meaning 6’1 barefoot but then another poster says he met him and thought he was 6’3.5”. This was Robert Broome who is 6’5”. While I don’t think he’s 6’3 let alone 6’3.5, I can see 6’2” on the court at times. Unfortunately the pics with he and Melo and Kobe aren’t great pics because he can look 6’1 range too
Canson said on 4/Oct/21
@Dillon: I think that’s Curry’s shoe height. I know In 2009 he measured 6’2 early morning. It was documented that year to be a 6 am to 630 am
Measurement so he’s 6’1.5 in reality
Canson said on 4/Oct/21
@Dillon: my money is on 3 and change. Meaning 3.25”-3.5 being possible. Kobe could’ve been something like 6’4.8 and Curry probably 6’1.5 at best. John Wall had Curry by about 1/2-3/4” and most people who’ve met Wall say he’s 6’2 max in person. That’s two people who met him when he was here playing still. Wall next to Beal is about an inch shorter and Beal looks 6’3” at best too

Yeah I’ve always had a hard time buying Lin at 6’2”. The 6’4” claim is just ridiculous. Honestly he looks 6’1” to me but I know he’s taller. Saw a forum somewhere where a 6’1” guy apparently met him in person and said he felt 2 inches shorter easily. Then again who knows if he’s 6’1”. Lin at 6’3” would make Kobe and Carmelo much taller than their listings. Even 6’2” looks doubtful. I don’t know why Curry claimed 6’2 3/4” barefoot. Why would he blatantly lie about the measurement being barefoot? That confuses me.

And I agree there are some players listed morning height on here and some afternoon or evening. Kobe doesn’t have less than 3 inches on Lin or Curry. That just doesn’t match up. He has a bare minimum of 3 inches on both and even Rob said it looked like more at times.
@Dillon: yep. the occasions when he looks over 6’5 are when he’s with guys like Lin or Steve Nash. With Curry it’s hit or miss. Then again Cam Newton looked 6’4 in one pic with Curry because Curry had the camera advantage and Cam wasn’t standing straight. As for Curry it’s easy to assess his height. The 2009 pre drafts were all done early morning. You’ll see where Ty Lawson Danny Green and Wayne Ellington Gained at least half inch from the year before. Green was 3/4”. Curry is a 6’1.5” guy. Low end 6’1 3/8 is possible but 6’1 5/8 is the best case. As for Lin, I don’t know what’s the deal with his height. He looks like a 6’2 in shoes guy on occasion, meaning he looks shorter than a lot of other 6’1.5” guys even being they’d be close to 6’3” in shoes. Curry and Kobe however is probably at least 3.25”. Harden and Kobe being harden was drafted in 2009 also, is 1.25” IMO. I have always had harden as a weak 6’4 or a solid 6’3.5”. I can’t see him being over about 6’3 5/8 if even that high. Fair enough to say Kobe may have been just over 6’4.75 but not quite 6’4 7/8 or 6’5”. Maybe a 6’4.8ish guy though. Also not sure how tall Nash. I doubt he’s 6’1”. Shawn Marion is probably 6’6” and he towered him.

@Dillon: agreed. That is his normal low for sure but wasn’t his extreme low imho. Then again I don’t think he would’ve measured that in the morning or at lunch and I don’t rule out 195 and some change or 195 flat which is 6’4.77. It depends on how much you lose after lunch. I lose only 1/8” which is the case with most of us including Rob. Lunch would be about 5-6 hours after waking. Losing 1/4” after lunch is usually only if someone is extremely tall to where they lose more than average which I’m not and losing it also is if someone loses very slowly. So after 5-6 hours which is 10-11 AM I’m down to 6’4 3/8”. By noon some days I’m 193.8 and some days 6’4.25 already. I consider my lunchtime 6’4 3/8 though since it’s exactly 5 hours after waking but it’s 1/8 from my low so I claim the low. I consider myself 6’4.25 here on the site and 6’4” is all I claim outside of it

Well when I’m measuring 6’5.25” on a stadiometer several hours out of bed, but at home I’m barely over 6’5” flat first thing out of bed it gets very confusing. I just claim 6’4.5” because I trust my home measurements more because I personally triple and quadruple checked to make sure they are accurate.
As for Kobe, like I mentioned, I think he’s about 6’4.75” near or at his normal low. I would think most people would lose about a quarter inch or so after lunchtime by the end of the day. That would put Kobe at around 6’5” lunchtime height which makes sense.

So many measurements of players like Davis measured only 6-9.75 for example, maybe it is measured in the afternoon we do not know. the real height of the person is in the morning in general. according to their method everyone should measure in the afternoon or evening and this is a mistake of course it does not reflect the true height of the same person.
on court Kobe looks 6-5 maybe 6-5.5 near other 6-6 guys
Now you know you don’t believe what you said. Do you really believe a person should measure in the morning. Is Kobe 6’5 in the morning? Is LeBron 6’7.75-6’8 in the morning? This is very likely. Can’t be one standard when you want but another when you don’t. Your logic isn’t even very good. Why should people measure in the morning? If anything the afternoon is your true height as it’s the one you measure for the majority of the day. A lunchtime height like Rob said is fair because it’s 1/8” above what you measure in the afternoon/evening

@Dillon:
Q: Are the heights listed with shoes?
A: No. Assume every height as though the celebrity was measured barefoot. This isn’t the NBA! I make no claim as to whether any listed height is an evening or early morning one, but technically I think you are better off saying your height based on the time when people get measured on average, which obviously wouldn’t be out of bed, but might be about 5 hours after waking. After you’ve been standing for 5-6 hours you won’t shrink much more during the rest of the day compared to how much you shrink in the time period from waking up till lunchtime.
As of November 2017, there are around 5100 Male and 5100 Females listed, with an average peak height of 5ft 10.75 for the Males and 5ft 5 and 1/4 for the Females.

@Dillon: I think the confusion may stem from you not being sure of how tall you are. But below is how someone would measure in Kobe’s situation based on how I lose my height
Out of bed (5 AM): 195.6-195.7 (6’5-6’5 1/16”) some mornings it’s flat 6’5 others it’s 6’5 1/16”
After 1 hour (6 AM) when I leave to go to work: 194.6-194.7 some mornings it’s 6’4 5/8 others 1mm over depending on where I wake up. If a less active morning where I’m not getting ready for work I can be 194.8 (I may lose .9cm as opposed to a full CM if I am not on my feet for that entire hour)
After 2 hours (7 AM) usually a flat 6’4.5 or 194.3-194.3 depending on where I wake up
After 3 hours (maybe 194.2-.3)
After 4 hours (maybe 194.1-.2)
After 5 hours (10 AM or considered near lunch): 194 (6’4 3/8) or 194.1 if I wake up higher or less active
After 6 hours 193.8-193.9
After 7 hours 193.6-193.8 (depending on where I wake)
That said for Kobe
Out of bed 6’5.5” maybe a touch over
1 hour 6’5 1/8- 6’5 1/4 (some guys only lose .25” after 1 hour as opposed to 3/8”
2 hours 6’5-6’5 1/8” (again some lose .5 after 2 whereas some lose 3/8”)
3 hours May still be 6’5 or a touch over but may be dipping under 6’5
4 hours 6’5 max but likely a mm under
5 hours 6’4 7/8 maybe 6’5 max if he lost slower
6 hours likely not more than 6’4 7/8”
7 May still trend near 6’4 7/8
8 likely 6’4.75”
I don’t rule out a bit over 6’4.75 for Kobe as like you said he looked 6’5 on occasion and he looked taller than Jordan did who I had at 6’4.5”. I think Kobe was conceivably in the 195-195.5 range but likely more like 6’4.8 if he was over 6’4.75”. Fact is he looked a bit over 3” shorter than Kyle Kuzma and he looked over half inch shorter than MWP. He also looked slightly shorter than Caron Butler who i have also met and was at most an inch taller than me. Butler measured 6’5.25” and looked no more than that if you compare him with Antwaun Jamison. If he’s less I wouldn’t go under 196 but I think the 6’5.25 is fair. I’ve also seen Jamison but was not close enough to get an estimate on his height because I wasn’t standing when he was near me. I didn’t meet him whereas I did meet Butler. Jamison supposedly measured 6’7.75” and it’s almost believable that it’s a low. Btw here is Jamison with Butler.
Also if you see Kobe next to Carmelo who is 6’6.25 or Rob Gronkowski (who is a morning measurement) he looks a hair under 6’5”. That’s why Rob still lists him at that number instead of 6’5”. However, I think we can agree that if he falls to 6’4.75”, that’s his afternoon/evening height. However, if Rob has a valid measurement and he believes it’s a low or how they look in person, he will go with it. So not seeing why we’re mentioning he can measure 6’5-6’5.25 at lunchtime as that wouldn’t be the case if he was only 6’4.75 later in the day.

Yes he measured that, but we don’t know what time of the day. He could easily be 6’5”-6’5.25” around lunchtime. I don’t know why thinking Kobe is 6’5” is such an outrageous crazy thing? He can easily look it in many situations.
@Dillon: I don’t think it’s crazy but you don’t lose 3/8-1/2” from lunchtime to afternoon/evening. This sounds more like an excuse. You lose about 1/8” maybe some 1/4”. Kobe if he was 6’4.75” afternoon height would’ve been 6’4 7/8 maybe 6’5” at lunchtime. Most of us here including Rob only lose 1/8” though. Either way he’s listed 6’4.75” here and that is what he measured so he wouldn’t be taller than that. I don’t get why you’re using the “lunchtime caveat” for someone with a measurement but not for others who are listed at morning heights. If you see, Rob uses morning measurements for several players and afternoon for others. There is no uniformity. He simply uses what they measure. Steph Curry, James Harden, and a couple others got morning heights so if we raise Kobe we would have to lower them. I don’t see why we’re making someone taller tho. If you see Kobe next to Metta World Peace that’s about 1/2-3/4” difference. You see Rob lists MWP at 6’5.5”.

I have to actually say I don’t think Kobe is 6’4.75” at an extreme low, but rather at a normal low. I changed my mind on that. But I think Rob should list him 6’5” because I think he holds that height or taller for most of the day. If 6’4.75” was his lunchtime height then he could fall below 6’4.5” at an extreme low which I can’t possibly see happening.
If 6’4.75 is his afternoon/evening height, 6’4 7/8” would he his lunchtime. But if Rob is going to adjust him to 6’5”, he needs to do the same to guys like Harden and Curry etc who have their morning heights listed here and reduce them to lunchtime. Meaning 6’3 5/8 and 6’1 5/8. Kobe wouldn’t be 6’5 for most of the day. He would begin to dip under it after 2-3 hours of being awake if 6’4.75” is his low. His extreme low I could believe 6’4.5”

For the Kobe Manning picture, Kobe is leaning way in and is in front of the picture and still doesn’t really appear shorter. It’s a bad comparison photo anyways. You always talk about camera angles and whether someone is standing in front or back and this photo is a really bad way to compare them.
So Dillon, you have an issue with the pic I used because it discredits you making Manning look taller but because yours makes Kobe look taller it’s better? Do you really believe what’s coming out of your mouth? I know you don’t. Manning if anything is disadvantaged and Kobe is raising his head so not seeing how It’s better. I feel you even know that

@Dillon: Yes Carter is a solid 6’5 based on what I’ve seen. But you’re wrong and your pictures are just as bad as Bagheera’s, no offense. I know you as a poster and you never struck me as one to have an agenda but it comes across that way when you begin posting pics like this and begin saying things like Kobe is 6’4.75 at an extreme low (and in Bagheera’s case AD’s measurement is inaccurate but Lebron’s is but Howard’s isn’t) and thinking LeBron grew. LeBron had 2.5” on Kobe who was 6’4.75”. See Kobe next to Kuzma.
Click Here
Here is a better pic of Lebron and Korver. It isn’t even that great.
Lebron is closer to the camera (For someone who has been on Celebheights as long as you have, this is pretty bad, Dillon). He would the same with Korver as he does Melo.
See Melo next to Kyle Korver who you just mentioned is 6’6.25”. Notice Melo, Korver, and Milsap all measured 6’6.25” and all got 6’7 listings (korver is gone). It’s more than likely that they either knocked an inch off (they knocked an inch off Lillard’s listing) or they got measured around 6’6.5 in AM and were listed 6’7”.
Two things.
1. They lost Lillard at 6’2” when he was listed at 6’3”. Do you really believe Lillard is 6’2”? No. I posted the video of him on TNT and they were surprised at how small he was. Colin Cowherd said Lillard was not 6’2 and that he was 6’0” when he met him. Rob even lists Lillard 6’1” here so he even knows he isn’t 6’2”.
2. You said yourself that Korver is 6’6.25”. He Melo and Milsap are all the same height. Milsap and Melo didn’t grow but are listed 6’7”. It’s not any different than Chris Paul measuring “6’0.25” allegedly before 2019-10 and being listed 6’1 the entire season with OKC. They do round from .25” as Jordan Clarkson and DeAngelo Russell measured 6’3.25 when they were drafted (both clearly morning or made up as Russell is a 6’2 range guy according to someone I know who has met him and Clarkson looks a weak 6’3”) both are listed 6’4”. The team simply knocked 1” off 6’5” they were listed before
Click Here
Click Here
Common sense:
If Melo is 1” shorter than LeBron then so is Korver. Korver is 6’6.25 so LeBron would be 6’7.25” like he was when measured. LeBron may have grown to 6’7.5 like Rob has him but I doubt it. Kyle Kuzma is taller than he is. Even Bagheera acknowledged that when he tried to make Kuzma 6’9. Kuzma is 6’8”. That’s what he measured in 2019. I don’t see what’s so difficult to accept about that. You all clearly have an agenda or in denial about LeBron not having grown.
You see below that LeBron went from 6’8 to 6’9 and Kuzma 6’9 to 6’8”. And the pic that was used on LeBron’s page that everyone has commented on where Kuzma is taller than LeBron is from 2018. Remember Brandon Ingram was measured 6’7” during the 2019 official measurements and they bumped him to 6’8 this year because they bumped Zion to 6’7 as a result of Zion and Lonzo being the same height listing (6’6”) when Zion is clearly taller. They are also hyping Zion. Zion measured 6’6 (likely earlier in the day and he’s really a weak 6’6”). Zion had over an inch on Lonzo when he first came in the league and still does so he didn’t grow. The reality of it is that The NBA relaxed the rules during the 2020-21 season as Shane Gray said before. You can tell as some players jumped back to previous listings while some players kept their official barefoot measurements

@recapa well just read my name and you already know me lol. but yes, either Kobe’s perceived height is really taller than he is or it’s him who really taller than his claim or his wife’s measurement. Like he’s taller than strong 6’5-er like Payton Manning, solid 4 inch beside obama (unless obama is 6’0 like some random internet guys claim who had met obama and claim he’s the same height as him, which is 6’0), and Charles Barkley, who’s solid 6’5 beside literally anyone, except Jordan and Kobe.
@Editor Rob: really who is this poster?
Editor Rob
I did ban that particular name as it’s daft trying to confuse people…although ‘stalker china’ isn’t a better alternative.
The poster should choose a simpler name, Jeff or something 😆

The evidence for LeBron at 6’8” is overwhelming imo. I can’t possibly see how he’s shorter than 6’8”.
@Rob
What do you think of these pictures in this post and my previous one? Do you think LeBron deserves a 6’8” listing?

@Canson
Tbh at times he does look 6’7” range. Only problem is he looks 6’8” range more often than not imo. If I had to bet money I’d say he’s 6’8” flat or a bit over. Seeing Manning is only 2 inches below Magic one would think he’s no more than 2 inches below LeBron.
LeBron has at least an inch on 6’7” and 3/4” Luke Walton. If that doesn’t prove LeBron is taller than 6’7”, I don’t know what does.

I’d say if someone falls to 6’4.75” or a little lower at their normal low, they are 6’5”. Falling to 6’4.5” at the extreme low is still 6’5” too imo. Wish you were one height for the whole day but unfortunately it doesn’t work like that so you just have to use your best judgment.
Canson said on 23/Aug/21
@Dillon and Alex: I agree with both of you and Alex was on point. 1/8” difference between 5 hours out of bed and 7 or so for me too. So I could go with 6’4 3/8” or 6’4 1/4”. I go with the latter on this site and round down in real life to 6’4”. If my lunch were 6’4” flat and I dipped to 6’3 7/8” or if my lunch were 6’3 7/8 and I went to 6’3.75, I’d likely still claim 6’4”. If the latter (6’3.75) I’d say about 6’4”. If I were say 6’3 3/8-5/8 range I’d say 6’3 1/2” then but maybe above 5/8” or so I’d say about 6’4” or almost 6’4”. I used to claim 6’4 1/2” before so if my height were in the 6’4 3/8-5/8 range I still would. I just got tired of my taller friends asking me why I bother with a fraction when I’m tall enough and the shorter ones asking why I don’t claim 6’5”. So I don’t consider myself 6’5” or even 4 1/2” since Im under so 6’4 it is. If I were a few mm higher then half would be in consideration still. But The half is not properly used in my opinion. People always round up instead of using it correctly. But If within that range 6’3.75-6’4” I would just say 6’4”. I don’t use the logic Connor does at 5’11 7/8”. At that stage it’s no difference from 6’0” in terms of appearance. Nothing glucosamine or an orthotic can’t fix to make it exact lol
Alex 6’0 said on 22/Aug/21
I’m sure id get a 6’2 college listing because if they measure in the morning plus basketball sneakers i gotta easily be near 6’2. Midday to evening in most sneakers I’m 6’1-6’1.25

Dillon Rice said on 1/Aug/21
@Canson I guess you can take 1-1.5 inches off everyone’s listed height then. I’m personally not an advocate of claiming low heights for the same logic people use for not claiming your height right out of bed. 5-6 hours out of bed is probably a good marker for height because it’s around mid day.
Canson said on 31/Jul/21
@Dillon: they were usually taken in the morning from what I remember. There was possibly a time when it was taken on a Saturday later in the morning but I remember 6 am practice and having them taken around that time as well
Dillon Rice said on 30/Jul/21
@Canson That’s interesting because I saw a guy in my old high school listed at 6’8” on the basketball roster his senior year and then the next year in college on the football roster he was listed 6’7”. Football teams seem to be honest about heights, unlike basketball. Was the measurements typically taken in the morning?
Canson said on 27/Jul/21
@Chaos and Alex: they may alternate between the two. Likely 6’2 and 6’4 but 6’5 is possible since I had a teammate that is max 6’0” and can look weak 6’0” was listed 6’3” once and then 6’2 for the majority of his career. Not sure if you remember Byron Houston? He measured 6’4 and was listed 6’7” until he came to the pros. Then 6’5 or 6’6”. Then LArry Johnson was listed 6’7 and 6’8 in college then 6’7 as a pro and maybe once 6’6”. He measured 6’5.5 which seeing him up close looked possible but not really. Max 1” taller than me. May have been close in height with Christian or more than likely just a strong 6’5 guy similar to how Chaos and I are strong 6’2 and 6’4”. I seriously would give his
Low 6’5.25” maximum seeing as how a teammate of mine that year was taller by an inch and he himself was about 6’6.25 best case

Canson said on 25/Jul/21
@Dillon: yes they did. Everyone on my team was given shoe heights and some guys in shoes and then some. One of my best friends played high school and college ball with me. He’s a couple years older than I am. He is a solid 6’7” guy and in his prime may have been just a hair over if that. He was listed 6’9” and 6’8”. I believe they changed it to 6’8” at one stage. He’s the closest thing to a decent listing. Then another teammate who still claims 6’7” and is really a weak 6’6 guy barefoot. He’s somewhere in the 6’5,5-.75 range. Although he lies about his still, he would easily wind up over 6’6 in the morning. I believe he was even listed 6’8” at one stage. I was listed 6’5 when I first got there then bumped up to 6’6 after a few games. I believe they measured me at 6’4.5 most times and 6’4.75 once but that was early morning and I’m not even sure it was accurate or even solid. Not sure if you remember Delonte West? I’ve played against him in high school and he’s nowhere near his listing. They listed him at 6’4” when he played in high school and I believe in college. He measured 6’1.5 I believe and I can say firmly that he was close to 3” shorter than me. Give or take
Dillon Rice said on 24/Jul/21
@Canson I know you said you played college basketball before. In your experience, did they overlist all the college players heights? I’m wondering if colleges tend to list in shoes like the NBA does. Also out of curiosity, what college did you play for?
Dillon Rice said on 15/Jul/21
@Beau Yeah I’m not sure, I just remember this one 5 foot tall women guessing me at 6’2” when I’m 6’4.5” without shoes. Also had another person under 5’6” guess me at 6’2”. I think that’s a very common tall height and it’s always paraded as the ideal male height so some people assume most tall people are 6’2” or so.
Beau said on 8/Jul/21
@Dillon Rice “Have you ever gotten under guessed? I’ve been guessed at 6’2” a couple times, but that’s the lowest I’ve gotten since I’ve grown to my full height. I’ve noticed that very short people will sometimes under guess height because I think nearly every height looks so tall to them.”
As a 5’5″ guy who almost always has good friends in the 6’1″ – 6’4″ range, I’d never under guess someone in the 6’4″ – 6’5″ area as 6’2″. Those heights give off a very different impression. I will sometimes under guess people in the 5’9″ – 6’0″ based on body type (ie. stocky people as shorter), but a stocky 6’5″ guy is a *big* dude.

Dillon Rice said on 17/Jun/21
@Canson I’ve seen so many guys that claim a height that look at least 2 inches below it. I don’t know if they are exaggerating or if I’m overestimating how tall certain heights are.
Canson said on 16/Jun/21
@Recapa: likely 194 since that’s what I’m closest to but maybe 193/194.
recapa said on 15/Jun/21
@Canson,out of curiousity if you were to be asked about your height in cm would you claim 193 or 194 since y,know .you are usually between the two.
Canson said on 8/Jun/21
@Dillon: usually taller but sometimes I am guessed shorter. The most frequent is 6’5”. The next is either 6’6 or 6’4”. Depends on the shoe I’m wearing when I’m guessed. But I’ve noticed regardless of footwear I’ve gotten 6’5 guesses. However, when I’m in thinner footwear I’ve gotten a lot more 6’4” guesses than I realize. The ones that get me most are the ones who are the same height as me or an inch shorter claiming 6’5 or 6’4” and they guess me as 6’5” even in a pair of shoes that only give me 3/4” or even 5/8”. I look at them and tell them no I’m 6’4”. When I’m in thinner footwear even with the orthotic in, I always just say I’m 6’4” flat. If they press the argument, I’ll tell them I’ll grab my tape measure if they need. Even in thicker footwear it’s 6’4.25 or I’ll say I’m between 6’4 and 6’4 1/2” if I get specific
Dillon Rice said on 7/Jun/21
@Canson Have you ever gotten under guessed? I’ve been guessed at 6’2” a couple times, but that’s the lowest I’ve gotten since I’ve grown to my full height. I’ve noticed that very short people will sometimes under guess height because I think nearly every height looks so tall to them.

@Dillon: I usually get the former.
Dillon Rice said on 3/Jun/21
@Canson Yeah I’ve gotten guessed taller than my height several times. 6’7” or 6’8” is the highest I’ve gotten. I’ve had more than one person insist I’m at least 6’5” and that there’s no way I’m the height I claim. It’s like telling someone your age and them telling you you have to be a different age even though you know when you were born. I have also had one guy think I looked shorter than 6’4” even though I’m actually a half inch above it, but he was an outlier. He was claiming to be a height he was clearly taller then so that might have influenced his perspective.
Canson said on 31/May/21
@Dillon: that’s the norm though for someone our size. You’re almost exactly 1/4” taller on both ends. I lose 3/4” too and have proportionate legs/torso for the most part. If anything, i get guessed taller because of it.
Chris Junior Hernandez said on 31/May/21
Between Barkley, Jordan and Kobe we all can see the shortest is Jordan and middle Barkley follow by tallest Kobe yet the tallest listed same as the shortest. 6’5 upgrade for Kobe isn’t unfair.
Dillon Rice said on 29/May/21
@Canson Yeah I have a very long torso, but my legs aren’t super long. I probably have the legs of a 6’1”-6’2” guy and the torso of a 6’6” guy. Probably shrink 3/4” throughout the day. Wake up at 6’5 1/4”, go to bed at 6’4 1/2”.

Metta is definitely taller.

@Editor Rob: I see what you’re saying. How much difference do you see? I’d say we can put Kobe being 6’5” or over to rest. He looked slightly under 6’5” next to him imho
Editor Rob
I’d say Metta looked taller, but exactly how much as I say, is trickier to tell. Both guys might fall into the camp of being listed at a mark at which they don’t really fall much under.
said on 16/May/21
@Editor Rob: fast forward to 1:44-1:50 (specifically 1:48-1:50). How much do you see between Metta World Peace and Kobe? Maybe 2cm, 1” or more like 1/2”?

probably 1:47 is the moment they are close to the same distance, because as you see, when filming high up there is a change…when Kobe moved in front of Metta, he then looked closer in height.

@Dillon, bro i if had to take a guess about your height i,d say that you are exactly around 6ft4 1/2-5/8 at low.
said on 29/Apr/21
@Dillon: I’m not understanding what you are saying. Yes lots of people round down but some still round up. Some guys like Christian for example who measures around 6’5.25” may measure earlier in the day and claim 6’6” like he used to. I used to claim 6’4.5 measuring earlier in the day closer to 6’4.5”. But Kobe’s measurement is specific. He was measured at 6’4.75”. Mismeasurments happen but in his case he can look a solid 6’5” (at times) but not usually over the mark. Sasha Vujecic measured 6’5.5”. That could be a roundup from 6’5 1/3 for all we know being the NBA doesn’t do 1/8” increments. Sasha is minimum half inch if not 2 cm taller. Metta World Peace is clearly about the same next to Kobe and he claimed 6’5.5”. That safely rules out 6’5.25”. Caron Butler is about what he measured, in person, and he’s taller than Kobe.
Sasha looks closer to 2cm taller imho. Kobe’s measurement is just a normal measurement or maybe just under it. Maybe he’s 6’4 3/4-7/8 range and they rounded down

Dillon Rice said on 27/Apr/21
@Canson A lot of people aren’t exactly 6’5” or 5’10” or whatever. Usually there’s deviation, so rounding up and down is inevitable. I say I’m 6’4.5” to 6’5” because I’ve gotten different measurements the same amount of time out of bed depending on where I get measured. Nurse measured me 6’5.36” 1-1.5 hrs out of bed, but at home I’m that height first thing out of bed so I’m unsure what to claim. I might be measuring myself wrong at home. Wish I had a stadiometer like Rob does in my house.

Dillon Rice said on 21/Apr/21
@Canson He can look taller than 6’4.75” depending on who he’s posing with, but he looks to be close to 6’5” over or under regardless. He could easily claim 6’5” and no one would question him. Even if he’s 6’4.75” on the norm, that’s tall enough to claim 6’5”. If you were 6’5.25” you’d round down to 6’5” as well.
said on 21/Apr/21
@Dillon: here he is with Paul Pierce. There listed heights look almost believable. If anything, maybe Pierce falls to 6’5.75 seeing as how he doesn’t have 2” on Brady. For this site and discussion’s sake I’ll leave both where they are at 6’4.75 and 6’6”. Also see Kobe with pre draft measured 6’7” Harrison Barnes. Barnes doesn’t quite look that tall with Draymond Green though. It’s def not a full 2” and looks more like 1.5”. Maybe his 6’7” was a couple hours after waking or even a few and he dips to 6’6.75”

@Canson I think he can hold 6’5 or so around mid day. I think the 6’4 3/4” measurement is closer to a low for him.

@Dillon: there is absolutely no way Kobe was over 6’4.75”. Assuming Harrison Barnes is the full 6’7” (not sure he is being he’s not 2” taller than Draymond), it’s not feasible. Maybe Barnes has camera advantage there slightly and Kobe isn’t standing as straight but it’s not gonna be 6’5 with him. I’d give Barnes 6’6.75 next to 6’5.25 Draymond Green which I now believe is a low for him (6’6 out of bed)
