Writing a personal bio can be a really fun way to promote yourself, and there’s nothing like talking about what people think of you. Whether you want to write a career profile or a bio for applying to college, the process is relatively straightforward.
Steps
Write a Career Biography
- The bio that you write for a personal website will likely be very different from the bio you write for an application. Adjust your tone to make your bio suitably formal, humorous, professional, or personal.
- Good places to look for career profiles can be job websites, Twitter accounts, and LinkedIn pages.
- Remember that your credibility matters here. While you can hang out with friends on the weekends, that’s something you shouldn’t advertise in your resume. Please keep your information relevant and complete.
- For example, start your bio with a sentence like “Que Anh Tram is a graphic designer in Hanoi,” rather than “I’m a graphic designer in Hanoi.”
- Example: Nguyen Anh Tuan
- Nguyen Anh Tuan is a presenter for VTV.
- Nguyen Anh Tuan is a presenter for VTV. The show “Music Game” that he was in charge of for seven years won a lot of love from the TV audience and helped him win the award “Favorite Male MC of 2010”.

Write a Biography to Apply to University
- In chronological order : This structure begins at the beginning and ends at the end. It’s the simplest but works well if you have an interesting life that moves from A to B to C in unusual or dramatic ways.
- Circle : This structure starts at a pivotal or peak time (D), returns to (A), and then explains all the events leading up to that point (B, C), finally take the reader to follow a full circle. This structure is effective for building suspense, especially when Event D is so strange or unbelievable that the reader doesn’t mind being a bit lured in.
- Enlarge : This structure focuses on an important event (eg C) to symbolize a larger story. It could use a few small, sideline details (a, d) to guide the reader, otherwise the moment must be important enough to stand.
- Sai : “Hanoi Medical University is one of the top universities in Vietnam, which will provide me with the necessary foundation to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor.”
The university you’re applying to already knows its programs and facilities well, so don’t waste the reader’s time. In the first place, praising the school does the detriment of your self-description making it seem like you don’t deserve to go to school.
- Right : “The moment I watched the surgeon save my five-year-old brother’s life was a moment I will never forget. From that day on, I knew that I would devote my life to medicine. Little brother. I am so lucky that that doctor is studying in one of the best schools in the country.By doing the same, I hope to one day be able to do something meaningful for other families like it. that doctor did for my family.”
The narrator’s description is on point, personal, and memorable. Although it still subtly praises the Hanoi Medical University, the focus is on the story itself.
- False : “Reading The Great Gatsby was a defining moment in my life that completely changed my previous way of thinking about living in modern America. Thanks to reading it, I now know what I want to follow. Pursuit is American Studies.”
- True : “There’s nothing special about my family attachment to this country. We didn’t arrive on the Mayflower, not at the events of Ellis Island, or receive a pardon after fleeing the dictatorship. What we did was settled in four states of the Midwest, and lived happily there for more than a century. why I chose American Studies.”
- Wrong : “Educated in a fairly minimalistic style, I’ve found that I continue to value hard work and frugality above all else.”
If you’re not a countess like Dickens or one of Jane Austen’s comedians, this sentence doesn’t make any sense. It sounds like you’re trying too hard.
- Right : “Growing up in poverty taught me that working hard and saving are sometimes the only things one can do.”
Powerful and to the point – all with words no more than two syllables long.
- Wrong : “I have learned a lot from my experience as a camping guide.”
This sentence doesn’t say what you actually learned, and is one that would probably be among hundreds of other college biographies.
- Right : “Through my time as a camping guide I understand more about empathy and connection than I did before. Now, when I see my little sister make a mistake, I understand more about how to help her without any problems. don’t act imposing or yelling.”
- Consider the difference between the following sentences: “The window was broken by zombies” and “the zombie broke the window.” In the first sentence, you don’t know if the zombie window just accidentally broke or not. The second sentence is very clear: the zombie has broken the window, and you need to run down the street immediately.
Write a Personal Biography
- Joann Smith is a knitting enthusiast who also happens to own and run a paper supply company. She has been in the profession for over 25 years and has won numerous awards for business innovations (though none for knitting). In her spare time, she enjoys tasting wine, whiskey, sipping beer, and talking with friends.
- Hillary Clinton’s Twitter bio is a great example of an extremely short bio that conveys a lot of information in a humorous way: “Wife, mother, lawyer, advocate for women & children , FLOAR, FLOTUS, U.S. Senator, Secretary of State, author, dog breeder, hair icon, suit fan, misogynist, TBD…” [[ edit] 5] X Research Source
