Instagram is a photo-sharing social networking app that was released in 2010 and is available in 25 languages. This app keeps you updated with events in your friends’ lives easily. Open the Instagram app. Tap the Instagram icon (looks like a multicolored camera) on one of your device’s home screens.

Create an account by tapping Sign up at the bottom of the screen. Here, you need to enter your email address, the username you want to create, a password, and a phone number (this is optional, but recommended). You can also post a profile picture before continuing.

Choose friends to follow. Once you’ve finished creating an account, you have the option to find your friends from your contacts, Facebook account, Twitter account, or by searching manually. View your profile by tapping the account icon. This is the humanoid icon in the lower right corner of the screen. Here you can do the following:

  • Tap the + icon in the upper left corner of the screen to add friends from Facebook and your contacts.
  • Tap the three horizontal bars (☰) icon in the upper right corner and select the gear icon or ⋮ at the bottom of the screen to see Instagram’s selections. You can customize your account settings and add friends or social media accounts here.
  • Tap Edit Profile to the right of your profile picture to change your display name or username, add a profile and/or website, change personal information (such as phone number) and email address).

Select a filter for the photo. You will do this with the options at the bottom of the screen. Currently, on average, each Instagram account has 11 filters available.     • If you want more followers, take lots of unique photos and ask other users to recommend your Instagram. You can even design posts to make your account stand out.
    • You can view Instagram on your computer, but you can’t update your account or post photos. You can only do these things on the app.

    Warning

    • Avoid sharing photos that contain personal information, especially if you haven’t made your account private. Information to avoid sharing is home address or contact information (such as a photo of a new driver’s license). If you want to post a photo of your ID, cover up your address, identification number, insurance card number, and any other personal information. You may reveal your real name, unless you used a nickname when you signed up for an Instagram account; In this case, you need to hide your real name if you don’t want to reveal your identity.
