Record video in HD resolution. Your video needs to have a square pixel (pixel or p) aspect ratio to be displayed properly. Use one of the following resolutions to record HD video: [1] X Research Source

  • 720p: 1280 x 720
  • 1080p: 1920 x 1080
  • 1440p: 2560 x 1440
  • 2160p: 3840 x 2160
  • If your phone has HD recording (as many newer iPhones and most high-end Androids do), you’ll be able to find these settings in the camera’s Settings menu. Example: When you touch the gear icon on the Samsung Galaxy s10e screen, you will see the camera settings to choose the resolution. [2] X Research Source

Use standard aspect ratio. Use the same aspect ratio as when recording the video to encode and upload the video. Common frame rates are 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 fps (frames per second). [3] X Research Sources

Your video should be optimized for video resolution, aspect ratio, and whether the video has HDR (high contrast range). YouTube recommends that the following bitrates be selected for standard frame rates (24 – 30 fps) and high frame rates (48 – 60 fps): [4] X Research Source

  • 2160p: Standard Frame Rate: 35-45 Mbps (Megabit Per Second), High Frame Rate: 53 -68 Mpbs.
