Baby Luigi is one of the hardest characters to unlock in the game, mainly because of the number of laps you have to go through. There are different ways to unlock the Baby Luigi character. Start playing the Time Trial. You will need to unlock 8 Master Ghosts. You can race against that phantom data while playing the Trial of Time. You can unlock Master Ghosts by defeating Staff Ghosts on each lap. Normal ghosts have “Nin★” written next to the name.

Choose any character. Since you need to race as fast as possible, choose the character and vehicle you feel most familiar with.

Racing with Ghosts. The race will start and you will see the Ghost appear on the track with you. You need to get to the finish line about 7 seconds faster than that Ghost to unlock Master Ghost. The number of seconds needed to be faster will vary from Ghost to Ghost, so try to get as far away from Ghost as possible.

  • You should see a text at the bottom of the screen that says “A fast staff ghost has appeared!).
  • You don’t need to defeat Master Ghost, just unlock it.
  • Repeat the steps above until you have unlocked 8 Master Ghosts. Beat the normal Ghost in 8 different races to unlock 8 Master Ghosts.
