Depending on whether your network is a cable connection or a DSL service, the setup operation will be different. Click here for instructions on setting up a wired network and click here for instructions on setting up a DSL connection. If you’re unsure about the type of connection you’re using, you’ll need to contact your network service provider.
Steps
Set up a wired network
- The modem after turning on will go through the boot process. If the light on the modem is almost all lit and stops blinking, the device has finished booting. Usually only one light will continue to blink.
- Normally, it will take about 30-60 seconds for the modem to be fully turned on.
- If it’s a new modem, you’ll need to call your carrier and provide your modem information, as they won’t be able to help if the device isn’t linked to your account. Look for the modem’s serial number and MAC address printed on the bottom or side of the modem. [1] X Research Source
- Finding certain keywords on a search engine is also a good way to check the network.
