This wikiHow teaches you how to send email from your computer to a phone number as a text message. You can do so by entering the recipient’s phone number and carrier email code in the “To” text field of the email service, and then composing a message. Note: most carriers only support email messages of up to 160 characters and do not support picture messages.

Open the Email2SMS website. Go to https://email2sms.info/ using a web browser on your computer. This page will help you find the carrier email code you need to use in the end of the recipient’s email address.

  • While the carrier name doesn’t need to be capitalized, you must have correct punctuation and spelling (for example, type t-mobile instead of tmobile ).

    • If you send a message with more than 160 characters, some carriers will split the message into 2 or more separate messages, while some other providers only send exactly 160 characters, the rest will not sent.
  • Advice

    • Short, concise messages. Although recipients may receive multiple messages if you exceed 160 characters, there is a chance that they will be charged for each individual message if they have not signed up for unlimited texting.

    Warning

    • Most carriers do not support MMS messages (such as pictures, long messages, or emojis) from email.
