In addition, it is also possible to consider the two values of music ( music or music recording ) and music sheet ( music sheet ) also creating a set of sub-criteria to refer to in the final results of the selection, filtering and search. The five main sets of criteria include:

Principles of selection, filtering and searching

Principles. Criteria sets are treated equally. So, if you start selecting a criterion from a certain set of criteria, it will be filtered by the remaining 4 sets of criteria, regardless of which set of criteria the initially selected criterion belongs to.
Actually selecting and filtering on MUSOPEN. In fact, MUSOPEN implemented the selection and filtering as follows:

  • If you start selecting a composer from the Composer set of criteria, the selected composer will be filtered by 2 sets of criteria, Instrument and Form .
  • If you start selecting a performer from the Performer set of criteria, the selected performer will be filtered by all four remaining sets of criteria, namely Popular Composer ; Instruments ; Period and Form .
  • If you start selecting an instrument from the Instrument set of criteria, the selected instrument will be filtered by 3 sets of criteria, namely Popular composer ; Period and Form .
  • If starting to select a period from the Period , the selected period will be filtered by 3 sets of criteria, namely Popular composer ; Instruments and Forms .
  • If you start to select a music form/music form from the Form set of criteria, the selected music form/music form will be filtered by 2 sets of criteria, Instrument and Period .

Practical example of selecting and filtering on MUSOPEN

Comments from the analysis above. From the above analysis it can be seen that, only in the case of starting to select a performer from the Performer set of criteria, will there be filtering, in theory, according to the remaining 4 sets of criteria. This is the most extensive and typical case, and so this case will be chosen as an example here, based on the facts on MUSOPEN. The remaining cases are similar, and will not be considered here.
Prepare for actual deployment. Suppose, from the Performer criteria set, we select a certain performer (group) with a relatively large list of songs, for example Borromeo String Quartet and then proceed to filter the list of songs. that song in all 4 categories, as mentioned above, is Popular Composer (Famous Composer); Instruments ; Period and Form . To do this, you must first go to the Borromeo String Quartet page, where there will be a list of its tracks. Here’s how to do it:

  • On the MUSOPEN homepage, click Music Catalog to open the Royalty Free Music page.
  • On the Royalty Free Music page, in the section of the Performer criteria set, select the letter B.
    Image titled MUSOPEN Performer B.png

  • Select Borromeo String Quartet to open a page ( Borromeo String Quartet Music Recordings ) with a list of its tracks.
    Image titled MUSOPEN Borromeo List.png

    Image titled MUSOPEN Borromeo List.png

    {“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/c/ce/MUSOPEN-Borromeo-List.png/728px-MUSOPEN-Borromeo-List.png”,”bigUrl”:”/images /thumb/c/ce/MUSOPEN-Borromeo-List.png/397px-MUSOPEN-Borromeo-List.png”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:647,”bigWidth”:398,”bigHeight”:560, “licensing”:”<div class=”mw-parser-output”><p><a href=”/index.php?title=B%E1%BA%A3n_m%E1%BA%ABu:cc-by- sa-nc-3.0-self&redlink=1″ class=”new” title=”Bu1ea3n_mu1eabu:cc by sa nc 3.0 self (page chu01b0a u0111u01b0u1ee3c viu1ebft)”>Bu1ea3n_mu1eabu:cc by sa nc 3.0 self</a>n</p ></div>”}
Proceed to filter the songs in the Borromeo String Quartet ‘s playlist. It’s easy to count the number of songs in the Borromeo String Quartet ‘s playlist before filtering as 19 . Now this list will be filtered in the following order:

  • Go to the bottom of the page, filter section, you will see there are 4 filters, from bottom to top are: (1) forms – music form/music form; (2) Periods – Period; (3) Instruments – Musical Instruments; (4) Popular composers – Famous composers. You will filter in this sort order. To get started, select the Quartet criterion from the forms filter. Immediately, you will see, from the pre-filtered list with 19 songs, now down to 16 songs.

You can check this by clicking the Sheet Music knob on the right side of the Music knob. Great, those songs are also available. Please try to check:
