This wikiHow teaches you how to save Facebook photos to your computer, phone, or tablet. You need a Facebook account to do this. But you should keep in mind that we cannot download other people’s cover photos.

Open Facebook. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ on a web browser. Your News Feed page will open if you’re signed in.

  • If you’re not logged into your Facebook account, you’ll need to enter your email address (or phone number) and password in the top left of the page to log in.

Go to the photo you want to download. Scroll through the News Feed until you find the photo you want to upload, or visit the profile of the person who posted the photo to find it.

  • You can’t save a cover photo on Facebook.
  • You can access a person’s profile by clicking on the search bar at the top of the Facebook page, entering the audience’s name, clicking their name in the drop-down menu, and then clicking their profile from the results.

Click the photo. The image will open in full screen mode.

Select photo. Place the mouse pointer over the image. You will see a number of different options appear around the image frame.

  • The mouse pointer should be on the image you want to load.

Click Options . When the mouse pointer is over the image, this option will appear in the lower right corner of the image. After you click this, a menu will pop up.

Click Download . The option is near the top of the pop-up menu. The image will be downloaded to your computer.

  • On some browsers, you’ll need to choose a save location and click OK .
  • The default download location of the browser is the Downloads folder.

Go to the photo you want to download. Scroll through the News Feed until you find the photo you want to upload, or visit the profile of the person who posted the photo to find it.

    Click Save Photo when it appears. Options at the top of the pop-up menu. The photo will be saved to your phone or tablet.
  • Advice

    • When you click the Options menu on your own photo, you’ll see more options than if you did the same on someone else’s photo.
    • You can also save an image on most computers by opening the image, right-clicking the image and choosing Save image as… (or similar option) in the drop-down menu that appears, choosing a save location, and then clicking on OK .
    • If you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + S (or ⌘ Command + S on Mac), the computer will proceed to save the web page, not the image you selected.

    • Images posted on Facebook belong to the person who posted them. Do not repost this image anywhere without their consent, and if you do, you must credit the specific source.
