How To Ripen Peaches In A Hurry, According To This TikTok Hack

There are very few things more delicious than a perfectly-ripened, summer peach. Especially if you’ve just picked it up from your local farmer’s market. But, there’s also nothing worse than that peach not being ripe enough.

An unripe peach is probably not the summer snack you had in mind… So, what’s the solution?

Luckily for you, we’ve just come across a hack for ripening your peach. And it’s all thanks to TikTok account, @brunchwithbabs.

The hack? It’s as easy as shoving your unripe peach in a brown paper bag, along with a banana, and popping it on the windowsill for 24 hours. Yep! It’s THAT easy.

The fruits emit what’s known as ethylene gas and by trapping the gas within the bag, it will help the fruit ripen. Clever, huh?

Okay… but, why the banana? Well, bananas have more ethylene gas than peaches, so they’ll just supercharge the process and (fingers crossed) make it faster. If you’re not one for having bananas in the house, you could also use apples, lemons and apricots.

Of course, there are other ways of ripening your peaches that don’t involve a brown paper bag. You could simply leave them in the fruit bowl at room temperature and patiently wait for them to reach your desired ripeness.

And likewise, if you’re not ready to eat them, you could shove them in the fridge to slow down the ripening process and take them out when you’re ready.
