You need to change the JPEG file size when you want to send multiple images to email or upload to a website. Resizing an image will slightly degrade the quality, and enlarging the original image size can blur the image. You can resize photos using online tools, desktop editing software, or mobile apps, all for free.

Using the Image Resize Website

{“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/1/16/Resize-a-JPEG-Step-1-Version-4.jpg/v4-728px-Resize-a-JPEG- Step-1-Version-4.jpg”,”bigUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/1/16/Resize-a-JPEG-Step-1-Version-4.jpg/ v4-728px-Resize-a-JPEG-Step-1-Version-4.jpg”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:345,”bigWidth”:728,”bigHeight”:546,”licensing”:” <div class=”mw-parser-output”></div>”}
Go to the image resizing website. There are countless websites that allow you to quickly upload and resize photos, including JPEG format. Search by keyword “resize jpeg” to see different results. Using online tools works best on computers, not suitable for mobile devices. Here are a few popular sites:

  • picresize.com
  • resizeyourimage.com
  • resizeimage.net

{“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/b/bb/Resize-a-JPEG-Step-2-Version-4.jpg/v4-728px-Resize-a-JPEG- Step-2-Version-4.jpg”,”bigUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/b/bb/Resize-a-JPEG-Step-2-Version-4.jpg/ v4-728px-Resize-a-JPEG-Step-2-Version-4.jpg”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:345,”bigWidth”:728,”bigHeight”:546,”licensing”:” <div class=”mw-parser-output”></div>”}
Load the JPG image you want to resize. Most websites allow you to upload photos visually. Click “Choose file” or “Upload image” or “Browse” to find the image file you want to resize on your computer.

  • If the image you want to resize is on another website, you just need to download the image to your computer and then upload it to the image resizing website.

{“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/7/77/Resize-a-JPEG-Step-3-Version-4.jpg/v4-728px-Resize-a-JPEG- Step-3-Version-4.jpg”,”bigUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/7/77/Resize-a-JPEG-Step-3-Version-4.jpg/ v4-728px-Resize-a-JPEG-Step-3-Version-4.jpg”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:345,”bigWidth”:728,”bigHeight”:546,”licensing”:” <div class=”mw-parser-output”></div>”}
Use the resize control to resize the image. Each website has a different adjustment interface. You can click and drag and drop the dialog box or use the slider to adjust the size. You can enter the exact size you want in the corresponding field.

  • Enlarging the original image size reduces the image quality significantly.

{“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/d/d9/Resize-a-JPEG-Step-4-Version-4.jpg/v4-728px-Resize-a-JPEG- Step-4-Version-4.jpg”,”bigUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/d/d9/Resize-a-JPEG-Step-4-Version-4.jpg/ v4-728px-Resize-a-JPEG-Step-4-Version-4.jpg”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:345,”bigWidth”:728,”bigHeight”:546,”licensing”:” <div class=”mw-parser-output”></div>”}
Select the compression level (if possible). Some resizing sites allow you to choose the compression level. The more compression, the smaller the file size but will reduce the image quality. Look for the quality slider or drop-down to change the final quality. Not all websites have the option to change the quality.

Load the resized image. After setting the size and quality, you can resize and download the image to your device. Click the “Resize” button to load a new image. You will see the preview image before downloading.

  • When uploading a resized image, make sure you don’t overwrite the original. If you keep the original, you can edit it again if you are not satisfied with the result.

  • To make a copy of an image file, right-click the image and select “Copy”. Right-click an empty area in the same folder and select “Paste” to make a copy of the image.

  • Warning

    • The image will lose quality significantly if you enlarge it. It’s best to just reduce the image size. When you enlarge the image, you stretch the pixels, so the image will be blurred and poor quality.

    You need to change the JPEG file size when you want to send multiple images to email or upload to a website. Resizing an image will slightly degrade the quality, and enlarging the original image size can blur the image. You can resize photos using online tools, desktop editing software, or mobile apps, all for free.
