Download OPHCrack. This is a free and open source utility that uses some advanced algorithms to crack your passwords. This program is freely available to the developers with all the code being publicly available and peer-reviewed. OPHCrack is provided in ISO format, which means that to use it you need to burn it to a CD/DVD.

  • Just download OPHCrack from the official SourceForge site. This is the version directly from the developers. Do not load any version of OPHCrack that is issued as an EXE. Make sure you have downloaded the correct version for your version of Windows.
  • Some antivirus programs identify OPHCrack as a virus. That’s because it contains a number of tools that are classified as “malware”: they are specifically designed to gain unauthorized access to computer systems. However, using OPHCrack from the SourceForge site will not expose the computer to any virus attack.
  • If you can’t access your computer because it’s locked, you’ll have to work on another computer.
