Armpits are a sensitive area, so choose whichever method of armpit hair removal you feel most comfortable with. Shaving is the most common because it’s very quick, usually just one to two minutes. You can also wax your armpits or pluck them, both of which will last longer, or you can also use a hair removal cream to keep the pain away. If you want permanent hair removal, go to salons for electric hair removal.

Wet armpits with warm water. It’s easier to shave when your skin is soft and warm. You can shave your armpits in the shower or wet your armpits with warm water before you start shaving.

  • If your skin has ingrown hairs inside, be sure to exfoliate before you start shaving. [1] X Research Source
  • If you have very sensitive skin, shave at night so your skin can “rest” overnight.

Apply shaving cream or shower gel. Apply creams to the underarm hairs that help the razor glide smoothly over the skin. If you don’t use shaving cream or shower gel, you may experience razor burn, so don’t skip this all-important step.

  • If necessary, you can use a regular bar of soap. Rub soap into hands until foamy before applying to underarms.
  • You can also use shampoo or conditioner if nothing else is available.

Choose a new and sharp razor. Using a dull or rusty razor will cause a lot of inconvenience. Your skin won’t be shaved well, you’ll be more prone to chipping and even your skin will grow ingrown hairs or become infected. Choose a good used razor.

Shave against the direction of hair growth. Each person’s armpit hair will grow differently, your hair can grow in one or more directions. Rinse the armpit and repeat the above steps with the remaining armpit. Rinse off any remaining shaving cream from your armpits and check to see if you’ve shaved off all the hair. You can even touch to make sure the hair is gone, and then repeat the steps above with the remaining armpit.

Wait one to two hours before using deodorant products. Shaving can scratch your skin, so give your skin some time to heal before applying skin care products. If you immediately use deodorant products, your skin may burn or develop a rash.

Choose a cream specifically designed for sensitive skin. There are many types of hair removal creams, some are mild for sensitive areas like the face and armpits and there are heavy ones for thick leg hair. Choose a cream for sensitive skin; If that doesn’t work, you can also try the heavier one.

  • Using a cream that is too strong for your skin can cause a rash.
  • If you still can’t choose, choose a face cream.

Wait for instructions. Keep your hands still for the cream to start taking effect. Most brands recommend waiting three to ten minutes for the chemicals to work on the hair. Also remember not to leave the cream on longer than recommended.

  • If this is your first time using a hair removal cream, wash your armpits after 1 minute to verify that you are not allergic to the cream; Watch for redness, itching, or a rash. Reapply the cream if your skin does not react at all.
  • The cream will probably sting, but it won’t last too long or heat up. If you feel pain, wash off the cream.

Wait a few hours before using deodorants. That way, your skin will have time to heal and you’ll be less likely to itch as the deodorant reacts to the more sensitive underarms.

Waxing

{“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/b/b6/Remove-Armpit-Hair-Step-15-Version-6.jpg/v4-728px-Remove-Armpit-Hair- Step-15-Version-6.jpg”,”bigUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/b/b6/Remove-Armpit-Hair-Step-15-Version-6.jpg/ v4-728px-Remove-Armpit-Hair-Step-15-Version-6.jpg”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:345,”bigWidth”:728,”bigHeight”:546,”licensing”:” <div class=”mw-parser-output”></div>”}
You should let your armpit hair be about 1cm long. That length will be most convenient when you wax. If your hair is shorter, it will be difficult for the waxing pad to stick to the hair, longer, the hair will be more prone to tangles and therefore more difficult to remove. [2] X Research Source If necessary, wait a few days for more hair to grow or be trimmed to get the right length.

Prepare a hair removal kit. All waxing methods work for underarm hair. Most sets come with a jar of wax, which needs to be heated in a microwave or heating device. Each set also comes with an eraser and towel pads for you to remove the hardened hair remover from your skin.

  • Please heat the wax according to the instructions for use.
  • Put some wax on the back of your hand after warming it up to make sure it doesn’t get too hot.

Exfoliate and dry your armpits. You can use an exfoliant or a loofah to remove dead skin and dirt, and then wipe your armpits clean. This will make it easier for you to wax and avoid infection.

Apply talcum powder to your armpits. Baby powder will help keep your armpits dry and prevent the wax from sticking to your skin when you’re trying to peel them off. Turning on a fan or opening a window also helps keep your armpits dry.

Pull the cloth against the direction of hair growth. Do it quickly as if you were peeling urgo tape. If you jerk slowly, the wax won’t remove all of your armpit hair. The slower the jerk, the more pain you feel.

  • If you find it too difficult to peel off the cloth, your skin may not be fully stretched. Try folding your hand and using your fingers to keep the skin tight while you use your other hand to peel the cloth off.
  • You can also sweat and get your armpits wet. Turn on the fan to keep the body cooler and drier.

Repeat until all hair is removed. You will have to wax two to three times each armpit, depending on how much armpit hair you have. After removing one armpit, then continue with the other armpit. You can pluck any remaining hairs with tweezers when you’re done waxing.

Wait a few hours before using deodorants. If you use deodorant right away, your skin may itch. Wait a few hours before using any skin care products.

Using the epilator

{“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/9/96/Remove-Armpit-Hair-Step-25-Version-5.jpg/v4-728px-Remove-Armpit-Hair- Step-25-Version-5.jpg”,”bigUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/9/96/Remove-Armpit-Hair-Step-25-Version-5.jpg/ v4-728px-Remove-Armpit-Hair-Step-25-Version-5.jpg”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:345,”bigWidth”:728,”bigHeight”:546,”licensing”:” <div class=”mw-parser-output”></div>”}
Your armpit hair should only be a few millimeters long. This is the easiest length for convenient and effective use of the epilator. If the hairs are longer, they will easily tangle and be difficult to control in the epilator. You can shave your armpit hair one to two days before using the machine so that the hair is the desired length when you pluck.

Apply talcum powder to your armpits. An epilator is a small instrument with rotating heads that pulls hair out of the skin. Like waxing, you won’t have to worry about your armpit hair for a few weeks, but this method can be a bit painful. [3] X Research Source Make sure your underarms are completely dry with talcum powder. This will keep your skin from getting caught in the machine.

  • Advice

    • If you use hair removal cream, test a little under your hand to see if you get a rash.
    • If you use a razor, be careful when using deodorants! Skin clefts are very painful when you put anything on your skin.
    • Read product ingredients before applying to your skin and check if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

    Warning

    • You could get a razor burn. The burn will be right under your armpit and will hurt for a long time.
    • If you press too hard or your skin doesn’t like the razor, your skin may scratch.
