Steps
Three basic ways to prepare green beans
- Pour a moderate amount of water into a large pot to cover the beans.
- Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then add the washed and cut green beans to the water.
- When the water comes to a boil again, turn the stove down to low and simmer for about 4 minutes or until the beans are tender but still crisp.
- Pour the green beans into the basket, then add salt and pepper to the beans and eat right away.
- Pour water about 2.5cm high into the pot and place the steamer on top.
- Cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a boil. When the water boils, open the pot lid and put the washed and cut green beans into the steamer.
- Turn the stove down to medium heat and cover the pot.
- Steam the beans for about 2 minutes, then check to see if the beans are cooked. Make sure the beans are soft but still crispy.
- Now, you just need to season to enjoy the green beans.
- Place the washed and cut green beans into a bowl or microwave-safe container.
- Add 2 tablespoons (30ml) of water and cover the beans with plastic wrap. Do not let the cling film touch the beans.
- Microwave the beans on high heat for 3 minutes, then open the wrap carefully to avoid steam burns.
- Check to see if the beans are cooked, then season with seasonings and serve immediately.

Advice
- You can prepare the green beans first and then reheat them before eating. If you need to cook the beans first, prepare a bowl of ice water while you wait for the beans to cook. You just take a bowl of water and add some ice. When the beans are cooked, strain out the boiling water and soak the beans in ice water to reduce the heat. This will help you to keep the green color of the beans.
