Steps

Making Pasta and Cheese on the Kitchen

Prepare materials. To make macaroni and cheese on the stovetop, you’ll need small dry pasta, salt, vegetable oil, butter, flour, milk, and shredded cheddar.
Boil 4-6 liters of water in a large pot. You should pour water so that it is 7-10 cm from the mouth of the pot. Set the stove to high heat and add 1 pinch of salt to the water. You need to put a lot of water in the pot so that the pasta can expand and cook evenly. If you don’t add enough water, the pasta will clump together and not cook evenly.
Put the pasta in the pot after the water boils. Pour in the pasta and stir well so it doesn’t stick. Cook the pasta for about 8 minutes or until “al dente” – which means soft but still chewy and not at all mushy. Before turning off the stove, pin a sample of pasta (carefully) with a fork to check if it’s done. Stir pasta every 1-2 minutes until desired flavor and softness. However, you should be sure to read the instructions on the pasta box carefully because different types of noodles will have different processing times.
Place the basket in the sink and pour the pasta and boiling water into it. After draining, pour the pasta into the pot and place it on a pot liner or on the stove (note that the stove is off!) to wait for the noodles to cool.
Heat oil and butter in another pan over medium heat. When the butter has melted into the oil, add the flour and stir well with a whisk (you can use a fork or a long-handled spoon). Continue stirring the mixture gently for about 3 minutes or until smooth and light brown. This is the first step in making the sauce to use with the finished pasta. You can also start making the sauce while waiting for the pasta to cook to save time.
Slowly add the milk to the mixture and continue stirring. You can also use a long-handled fork or spoon. Heat the mixture for a few minutes, stirring constantly until bubbling (i.e. boiling causes bubbles to appear on the surface but not bursting immediately) and begins to thicken. You should stir the ingredients into the mixture.
Add shredded cheese, half a cup at a time. Continue stirring until the cheese is melted.
Spicy taste. Taste the sauce carefully, scoop out some of the sauce with a spoon and wait until it cools down before trying it. Then, add salt, pepper, nutmeg or other spices you like until the sauce feels really good. Stir the sauce constantly to blend the seasonings.
Pour sauce over pasta. Mix gently so that the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.
Enjoy. At this point, the dish is complete to enjoy, but you can still eat it with a salad or a piece of chicken or other protein foods you like. You can also add other meats, such as bacon, to your pasta dishes to add more flavor to this delicious dish. However, macaroni and cheese is high in fat, so you don’t need to combine too many things!

Prepare baked macaroni and cheese with Worcestershire sauce. If you like Worcestershire sauce and the aroma of baked pasta, this is the recipe for you.
  • Advice

    • If you want a richer flavor, you can add onion powder.
    • If you don’t have butter, you can use margarine. Although margarine doesn’t make a dish as perfect as butter, it can still be substituted.
    • You can use white cheddar cheese.
    • This recipe can make 8 or more servings. If you have leftovers, store them carefully in the refrigerator or halve the ingredients in this recipe (200 g pasta, ½ tablespoon or 1-1/2 tablespoons oil, etc.)
    • For macaroni and cheese with a crispy surface, you can bake it in the oven. Preheat oven to 180ºC. After performing the above steps, place the prepared pasta in a special glass or metal oven tray (or two baking trays, if you don’t have a large one). Sprinkle cheese or breadcrumbs mixed with butter on top, and bake for 15 minutes or until surface is lightly browned and crisp.
    • Only use cheddar cheese, which is usually orange in color.
    • For a complete dish, add vegetables or meats such as broccoli, carrots, onions, ham or chicken.
    • You can use butter instead of oil.

    Warning

    • If you don’t stir the macaroni and cheese well, the pasta will stick to the bottom of the pan and burn.
    • Do not let food burn.
    • Do not cook too much, the amount of ingredients above is enough for 10 people to eat.
