Prepare the beeswax by scraping it out so that it flows faster. You can buy beeswax online in the form of small squares or granules. If you buy beeswax in small granules, you don’t need to scrape it. If you buy beeswax in the form of squares, you must scrape it into a small bowl so it can easily combine with the other ingredients. Grate about 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of beeswax.

  • The more beeswax you use, the harder the lipstick.

Tips: The above recipe is enough to make 13-14 lipsticks, you can save it for later or give it to friends. If you don’t want to do that much, just split the recipe in half to make half the product.

Measure ingredients into a glass measuring cup with a spout. Measure into a cup 4 tablespoons (60 ml) grapeseed or olive oil, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) coconut oil, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) cocoa butter or shea butter, and freshly grated beeswax. Cut open 3 vitamin E capsules and squeeze the oil inside into the cup. [3] X Research Sources

  • A glass measuring cup with a spout will be convenient to pour the lipstick out afterwards, but if you don’t have one, you can use a regular glass bowl.
  • Do not put the capsule shell in the cup.

Prepare a water bath on the stove. Use a pot large enough to hold the measuring cup, and fill the pot with 5-8 cm of water. Place the pot on the stove and turn on the stove to medium heat, then place the measuring cup with all the ingredients in the pot. [4] X Research Sources

  • Be careful not to splash water on the cup as the water will not dissolve into the ingredients and could damage the lipstick.
  • If you don’t have a stove, you can also melt the mixture in the microwave. Take care not to burn the mixture by heating it in batches of 10-15 seconds in the microwave, stirring every time you take it out to test.
Stir the mixture periodically until everything has come together. Use a silicone spatula to scrape around the cup, so that all ingredients are completely dissolved. Once the mixture is completely mixed and there are no lumps, your job is done! [5] X Research Sources

  • If you are lazy to clean the silicone shovel after you are done, you can use a disposable plastic spoon.

Pour the mixture into the lipstick tube while it is still warm. The lipstick is easier to pour out while it is still hot or warm. After the lipstick cools, it becomes sticky, so it is difficult to melt. Use the correct tube of lip gloss instead of a jar or tube of lipstick. This formula makes for a liquid lipstick, not a plastic one, and it’s a bit more liquid than a plastic one. [6] X Research Source

  • If you find it difficult to pour lipstick into the tube, you can use a funnel.

Tip: You can buy tubes of lip gloss online. Buy a tube that can be squeezed to get lipstick or has a brush. Both types can be used for lip gloss.

Wait 20 minutes for the lipstick to cool before using. This cool time is also a time to compare the lipstick a bit. After the lipstick cools, you can use it freely! [7] X Research Sources

  • If you want your lipstick to cool faster, put it in the fridge.

Using Vaseline

Measure 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of vaseline into a microwaveable bowl. If you want, you can use 2 bowls to hold 2 different colored lip glosses, or use 1 bowl to make multiple tubes of the same color. Since the bowl does not need to hold much, you can use a really small bowl to avoid waste.

  • If you don’t have vaseline, you can use another petroleum jelly.
Add 1 teaspoon of lipstick to the vaseline bowl. Use less lipstick for a lighter lip gloss, or more for a bolder lip gloss. You just need to cut a small piece of lipstick and put it in the mixing bowl.

  • If you don’t have lipstick, you can use eyeshadow or blush to color the lip gloss.
  • At this point, you can add 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oil or a small pinch of glitter to the mix.
Microwave for 10-30 seconds. Place the bowl in the microwave and set a time of 10 seconds for the first time. Check after the time has elapsed to see if the mixture has dissolved. If not completely melted, put the bowl back and cook for another 10-20 seconds.

  • Be careful when using the microwave. The bowl can get very hot after it’s finished cooking.

Tip: If you don’t have a microwave, use a water bath to melt the ingredients.

Use a disposable spoon to stir the vaseline and lipstick together. Just stir the mixture for about 10 seconds to make sure it’s completely mixed. Surely you don’t want your lip gloss to have residue, right?

  • Don’t worry if you don’t have disposable spoons. It just makes your cleaning job a little easier, but you can just use a regular spoon and wash it off after you’re done.

Pour lip gloss into the container. You can use squeeze tubes, brush tubes, lipstick tubes, jars, or any other type of container you like. You just need to make sure they have a lid.

  • Pour the lipstick into the tube as soon as it is melted and mixed together. The lipstick will be easier to pour out if it is still warm.

Wait 20 minutes for the lipstick to cool before using. Let the lipstick cool on the table or put it in the fridge if you want it to cool faster. After cooling, the lipstick will no longer flow and have a perfect consistency! [8] X Research Sources

  • These tubes of lip gloss are perfect for keeping in a purse or desk, and can be given as a gift.

Make lip gloss from moisturizing coconut oil

Melt the coconut oil and cocoa butter mixture in the microwave. Measure 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of cocoa butter in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave ingredients in 10-second increments until they melt and form a homogeneous mixture. [9] X Research Source

  • The time to melt the mixture will not exceed 30-40 seconds.
Add vitamin E to the mixing bowl. Cut open 3 vitamin E tablets and squeeze the liquid inside into the bowl. Discard the capsule shell, not the bowl. [10] X Research Source

Did you know: Vitamin E helps protect lips from sun damage while moisturizing and softening lips.

Add lipstick and essential oils if you want colored or scented lip gloss. Add 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oil for a pleasant fragrance. Add about 1 teaspoon of lipstick that will color the lip gloss and add life to your face. [11] X Research Source

  • You can also add a little eyeshadow, blush or beetroot powder to give the lip gloss color.

Stir the ingredients until completely blended. Use a disposable spoon for easy cleaning. Stir the ingredients for about 10 seconds and be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl so that all of the mixture comes together. [12] X Research Source

  • It’s easier to stir while the mixture is hot, so it’s a good idea to stir right after you’ve melted the coconut oil and cocoa butter and added the other ingredients.

Pour the lip gloss into the jar and let it cool for 20 minutes. Coconut oil has a very low melting point, so do not store lip gloss made from coconut oil in a normal lipstick tube because it will melt. You can buy lip gloss jars online for about 20,000 VND/piece, or buy them at cosmetic stores. [13] X Research Source

  • Host a lip gloss party! People can bring their favorite tubes of lip gloss to the party and swap them out for more options.

Make scented lip gloss by adding 3-4 drops of essential oil. After the mixture has dissolved but before you pour it into the jar, stir in a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Try the following scents: [14] X Research Source

  • The scent of jasmine flowers creates vitality and freshness.
  • The smell of orange or lemon creates excitement and anticipation.
  • The scent of lavender creates calm and serenity.

Use blush or beetroot powder to color the lip gloss. Grate about ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) of your favorite powder into the melted lip gloss mixture. Stir until the mixture is well blended and pour the lip gloss into the tube. [15] X Research Source

  • The more powder you use, the darker the lipstick color. Experiment with different amounts of flour to find your favorite color.
Add a teaspoon of lipstick to your lip gloss for a signature color. Add some lipstick for a darker shade. Place the lipstick in the measuring cup along with the other ingredients before boiling in the water bath. [16] X Research Source

  • Red, pink, purple and even stronger shades can be added to lip gloss for color.

Add glitter to make a shimmery lip gloss. You should initially add about 1/2 teaspoon (2 grams) of glitter to the melted lipstick mixture, before pouring the lipstick into the tube. If you want to use more glitter, add another 1/2 teaspoon (2 grams). Stir the mixture well and pour the lip gloss into the tubes. [17] X Research Source

    • To be on the safe side, you shouldn’t use manual glitter. Cosmetic glitter is made to come into contact with human skin and is non-toxic if accidentally swallowed.

Tip: Be careful not to use too much glitter. Using too much glitter can change the consistency of the lipstick and create particles in the lipstick.

  • Advice

    • Clean the mixing bowl by submerging it in boiling water. The ingredients will be melted again and you use the sponge to clean the bowl. If you use beeswax, throw away the sponge after use instead of keeping it for later. [18] X Research Sources
