Steps

Make a car out of plastic bottles

Wash plastic bottles. Peel off the sticker on the plastic bottle and soak the bottle in hot soapy water for about 10 minutes. This step will make it easier to clean up any sticky residue on the bottle, while also removing any bacteria.
Punch 2 holes in the sides of the bottle. This will be where the axle is mounted. These holes must be parallel to each other. [1] X Research Source
Find the material for the axle. You can use many different things to make the axle: straws, wooden sticks, toothpicks or wire (such as wire from a coat hanger), etc. If it’s something long like a pencil, you only need two . If it’s a short object like a toothpick, you’ll need to use 4 sticks.
Find 4 bottle caps. You will use these covers as wheels.
Paint the car and wheels. You can paint the outside of the bottle and the wheels. It is easier to paint bottles and bottle caps before attaching to the car wall.
Attach the axle to the plastic bottle. Depending on the material selected, you can have 2 or 4 axles. If using a long material for the axle, insert the axle through the two holes on either side of the bottle. With axles as short as toothpicks, you need to stick each stick in a hole.
Punch a hole in the bottle cap. Knot a string and thread it through the bottle cap. Remember that the knot should be on the inside of the bottle cap. Screw the bottle cap onto the plastic bottle.
Cut the top of the bottle to make a windshield. Use a sharp object such as a paper cutter to cut a rectangle or square at the top of the bottle. Cut only 3 sides of the shape so you can fold it up. Cut so that when you fold the piece up, the windshield is facing the bottle cap.
Punch a hole in 4 bottle caps. Use a drill or sharp object to punch a hole in the center of each bottle cap.
Attach the bottle caps to the axle. Plug the axles through the holes punched in the bottle caps. See how the car stands. If the bottle cap is too big or too small, the car may not be able to move. You should attach the top of the bottle cap on the inside near the body of the car to make the car more stable.
Use the rope to pull the car. If you don’t want to pull the car away, you can push the car to run.

Make a car out of a milk carton

Find 4 bottle caps. Use a sharp object such as a paper cutter, scissors or knife to punch holes in the bottle caps. These bottle caps will be wheels.
Attach two bamboo sticks on the milk carton. Cut the bamboo sticks so that they are slightly longer than the width of the milk carton. These bamboo sticks will be the axles of the car. If you want the axle to go through the milk carton, you can now punch 2 holes in the sides of the box. [2] X Research Source
Insert one end of a bamboo stick through the bottle caps. Remember that the top of the bottle cap must be placed inside, near the milk carton to make the car more stable. Use glue at the junction of the bamboo stick and the bottle cap to make sure. Remember to wait for the glue to dry before continuing.
Insert the bamboo stick into the straw. Insert the other end of the bamboo stick into the straw. Cut the straw so that it is a little shorter than the bamboo stick. The bamboo sticks inside the straw will help the car run faster.
Insert the bamboo sticks through the remaining bottle caps. If you have already punched holes in the milk carton, thread the other end of the bamboo sticks through the holes before attaching the wheels. That’s the end of the axle part.
Glue the axles to the milk carton horizontally. The axles must be parallel to the width of the milk carton. [3] X Research Sources
Car decoration. Use colored paper, paint or crayons to decorate the car. You can also cut shapes on the milk carton to give the car a personality.

Make a car that runs on balloons

Measure and cut a piece of cardboard. We will use a piece of cardboard measuring 8 cm x 10 cm. Use a ruler and pencil or pens to draw on the piece of cardboard. Use a paper cutter to cut along the lines.
Punch a hole in 4 plastic caps. Use a drill or a sharp object to punch a hole in the center of each cap. This is the wheel of the car.
Cut a straight straw in half. Glue each half of the straw to the piece of cardboard horizontally. Remember that the straws must lie parallel to the width of the cover piece. [4] X Research Sources
Thread a bamboo stick through each straw. The bamboo sticks will act as axles.
Attach the bottle caps to the bamboo stick. Make sure the top end of the bottle cap is on the inside, near the piece of cardboard. This will prevent the bottle cap from getting caught in the cover piece.
Cut a spiral straw in half. Remember that the two halves of the straw must be the same length. You don’t need to use the half without the twist.
Dilate a balloon. Inflate and deflate the balloon several times to stretch the rubber.
Attach the ball to the spiral straw with an elastic band. Insert one end of the straw into the ball. Use an elastic band to wrap around the mouth of the balloon with a straw inside.

  • Blow into the straw to see if the elastic band is tight. Make sure that the air inside the balloon does not leak out.

Glue the balloon with the straw attached to the piece of cardboard. Turn the piece of cardboard upside down so the axles are on top. Place the straw attachment ball on the piece of cardboard lengthwise, the tip of the straw should protrude beyond the edge of the cover. Glue the straw to the piece of cardboard.
  • Blow into the straw. Pick up the car and blow into the balloon through the straw. Squeeze the straw so that the air does not leak out. Place the car on a flat surface and let go of the straw. The air in the balloon will escape and push the car forward. [5] X Research Sources

    • You may have to straighten the wheels a few times to get the best ride.
