You need to want that. This is the most important step. If a 4.0 is your number one priority, you’ll get it. This means you’re willing to sacrifice other things like hanging out with friends, watching your favorite TV shows, and sometimes even sleeping.

Go to school regularly. If attendance is part of your grading, always attend school. You should still go to school regularly, even if it’s not mandatory.

Remember that learning is similar to working – you’ll get the best results if you do it for short periods of time and often. So you have to study continuously (maybe daily) and not break the study habit. Practicing how to learn for a long time is also an important skill. It may seem difficult or impossible at first, but it is doable.

Prioritize learning. Only hang out when you have nothing to do.

Know the exam schedule and know exactly what you need to study.

A full-time job can keep you on track and do NOT waste time. However, if you are chronically sleep deprived then work is something to cut back on. I recommend finding a job where you can study like a university librarian or administrative work.

Study a full course but divide it equally. Choose one hard class or two easy classes. Don’t take chemistry, math, zoology, and trigonometry classes in the same semester. Beware of some difficult credits; these credits are very time consuming, even taking longer than a class of 3 or 4 credits. Sometimes you’ll have to take an entire course (usually after finishing your general education and starting more specialized classes at a higher level), and the schedule gets tight.

Finally, remember why you went to college. You go there to learn, so don’t complain about having to go to class, but see it as an opportunity to improve yourself. Be proud of your commitment to learning. However, do not ignore the fact that you will feel depressed and have no friends if you just study and study. Moderation is half the battle, and having friends should also be a priority.
  • Advice

    • Concentrate in class.
    • Keep track of your absences. Those dates will also affect your rankings!
    • Balance between learning and having fun! Constant stress is not good for health.
    • Pay attention to your rankings.
    • Choose a major that’s your strengths. For example, a student who chooses chemistry because of interest will find the job lighter and will be more successful than students who choose this major for other reasons.
    • See a counselor if you feel signs of depression.
    • Notice if the professors are giving the grade according to the standards they have set out in the curriculum. Contact the authorities if your professor is not following the standards they have set. However, if it is not yet the end of the school year, do not anger your teacher.
    • Take the “info cards” with you. You just need to write down the necessary information (exams, studies, etc.) and watch when busy.
    • Take advantage of the school library. The study room will protect you from the world of entertainment and allow you to focus on your task. One hour of study completed at the library is equivalent to three hours of study in a dorm room.
    • Join a study group.
    • Learn to work with perfectionism.
    • Maintain a healthy body and mind.

    Warning

    • Don’t work too hard. Stress will make it more difficult for you to study.
    • Don’t delay a class too long.
    • DO NOT stay up all night. You should know that you will be able to think better and work more efficiently if you get enough sleep.
