Jailbreaking an Apple device allows you to interfere with settings normally restricted by the company. This will void the warranty, but the process can be easily reversed to go undetected. Follow these instructions to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
Steps
Perform Backup
- You can disable the password by opening Settings, selecting General, and then selecting Passcode Lock. You are asked to enter a password, then adjust the password preferences. Remember to switch to off mode.
- After completing the jailbreak process, you can enable the password with the above operations.
- The iTunes backup password also needs to be disabled during the jailbreak process. On iTunes, click the device and uncheck the “Encrypt Local Backup” dialog box. You need to enter the password and back up the device again.
- Open Settings on the device.
- Select General .
- Select About .
- The iOS version is displayed in the Version section.
- There is currently no way to unbind an iOS device running version 6.1. Non-binding means that the device does not need to be connected to the computer every time it boots. To perform constraint cracking, follow the method in the next section.
Jailbreak Device iOS 6.0 -6.1.2 or iOS 7.0 – 7.0.4
- This is a non-binding jailbreak method. This means that after a successful jailbreak, the device is permanently jailbroken, until you reverse the process yourself or download an update from Apple to patch the jailbreak.
- Be sure to download a version compatible with your computer’s operating system. Personal computers need to run the operating system from Windows XP or higher. Mac needs OS X.6 or later.
- You may lose data in running apps while jailbreaking, so return to the home screen before proceeding.
- Too many programs running on your computer can slow down the jailbreak process and interrupt the installation, forcing you to go through the whole process again. Powering off while jailbreaking can cause the phone to stop working.
- Cydia needs to download the data before completing the jailbreak. The phrase “Reloading Data” will appear and then disappear.
Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 Device
- This is a non-binding jailbreak. This means that after a successful jailbreak, the device is permanently jailbroken, until you reverse the process yourself or download an update from Apple to patch the jailbreak.
- Wait a while, the message “Complete” will appear. The device automatically reboots.

Restore iOS Device
- If you’re backing up from iCloud, you don’t need to use the computer that made the previous backup.
- When choosing a restore method, select the item that allows you to access the backup you want to restore.
- You can back up when the device is jailbroken, and the device is still not fully jailbroken when the restore is complete. Doing this allows you to keep the latest settings and apps before jailbreaking.
Advice
- If you need help with the jailbreak process, don’t go to the official Apple forum, instead find a jailbreaking forum online, they are always ready to help.
- Jailbreak is legal in most countries, even in the US.
- Always check the jailbreak before updating iOS because Apple will patch the jailbreak in the update version and the company does not make specific announcements.
Warning
- Jailbreak can cause the device to stop working. This is quite rare and the cause is usually not following the steps above.
- In Singapore, it is illegal to jailbreak a device or download unauthorized software. Singapore police investigate devices and computers, if they find out that you have cracked your iPhone, you will be fined, detained or jailed for the offence.
- Jailbreak voids the warranty, and Apple will not repair or replace an iOS device if there is a problem. However, you can still use the warranty if you restore the device as it was before jailbreak via iTunes backup.
- Never pay a fee to jailbreak, if unfortunately you have done it, try to find a way to stop that action.
