Jailbreaking an Apple device allows you to interfere with settings normally restricted by the company. This will void the warranty, but the process can be easily reversed to go undetected. Follow these instructions to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.

Check iTunes settings. Make sure you have updated iTunes to the latest version. If you’re using Windows, you’ll need to install iTunes from the Apple website. Mac computers always come with an installed version of iTunes. You need to create a backup point to restore in case the device jailbreak fails.

Plug the device into the computer. Open iTunes. Click on the device in the sidebar. Select “Back Up Now”. This allows to back up all data, contacts and settings.

Disable screen lock on iOS devices. If you set screen lock passwords, you’ll need to disable them during the jailbreak process, and then re-enable them once you’re done.

  • You can disable the password by opening Settings, selecting General, and then selecting Passcode Lock. You are asked to enter a password, then adjust the password preferences. Remember to switch to off mode.
  • After completing the jailbreak process, you can enable the password with the above operations.
  • The iTunes backup password also needs to be disabled during the jailbreak process. On iTunes, click the device and uncheck the “Encrypt Local Backup” dialog box. You need to enter the password and back up the device again.

Check iOS version. There are different jailbreak methods depending on the iOS version you are using. To check the version, follow these steps:

  • Open Settings on the device.
  • Select General .
  • Select About .
  • The iOS version is displayed in the Version section.
  • There is currently no way to unbind an iOS device running version 6.1. Non-binding means that the device does not need to be connected to the computer every time it boots. To perform constraint cracking, follow the method in the next section.

Download evasi0n for iOS 6 or evasi0n 7 for iOS 7. To jailbreak version 6.0.0-6.1.2 or iOS 7.0 – 7.0.4, download the jailbreak software at [1] .

  • This is a non-binding jailbreak method. This means that after a successful jailbreak, the device is permanently jailbroken, until you reverse the process yourself or download an update from Apple to patch the jailbreak.
  • Be sure to download a version compatible with your computer’s operating system. Personal computers need to run the operating system from Windows XP or higher. Mac needs OS X.6 or later.

Close all applications running on the device. Remember to return to the Home Screen. Make sure the device is still connected to the computer.

  • You may lose data in running apps while jailbreaking, so return to the home screen before proceeding.

Close iTunes on the computer. Run the software evasi0n. Click on the “Jailbreak” button. The jailbreak process may take several minutes. Do not run any programs on the computer and do not touch the device’s power button.

  • Too many programs running on your computer can slow down the jailbreak process and interrupt the installation, forcing you to go through the whole process again. Powering off while jailbreaking can cause the phone to stop working.

When prompted, run the jailbreak app. This application appears on the home screen of the device. Tap the app to continue the jailbreak process.

Open Cydia. After completing the jailbreak process, an application called Cydia will appear on the home screen. This is an alternative to Apple’s iTunes, you can interfere with apps that are not covered by Apple’s terms.

  • Cydia needs to download the data before completing the jailbreak. The phrase “Reloading Data” will appear and then disappear.

Install the intermediate application. The device is jailbroken. Remember to re-enable password and screen lock. You can install middleware on your iOS device.

Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 Device

Device backup. Follow the steps above. Close iTunes when done and let the device connect to the computer.
Download Absinthe 2, a free jailbreak software. Absinthe is one of the easiest to use programs to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1. The software also provides jailbreak for iOS 5.01 following the same operation. Run the software and select the “Jailbreak” button.

  • This is a non-binding jailbreak. This means that after a successful jailbreak, the device is permanently jailbroken, until you reverse the process yourself or download an update from Apple to patch the jailbreak.

The device will automatically proceed to jailbreak. Pay attention to follow the on-screen instructions to put the device into DFU mode (Device Firmware Update state). You need to click on “Jailbreak” again.

  • Wait a while, the message “Complete” will appear. The device automatically reboots.
Open the “Loader” application on the home screen. This application allows you to download and install Cydia. Cydia is used to search and install unauthorized apps on Apple devices.
Restart the device again. Then your device is jailbroken and ready to use.

iOS 6.1.3 Device Jailbreak – iOS 6.1.5

Download p0sixspwn from address [2] to jailbreak the device 6.1.3 -6.1.5.
If you jailbreak with Redsn0w, just install the p0sixspwn package from Saurik.
Run p0sixspwn and click on the jailbreak button.
Wait for the jailbreak process to complete.

Restore iOS Device

Connect the device to the computer. Make sure to connect to the computer where you made the backup, otherwise you will need to access the backup file.

  • If you’re backing up from iCloud, you don’t need to use the computer that made the previous backup.

Choose a restore method If you want to keep your pre-jailbreak settings and apps, choose Restore on iCloud Backup or on iTunes Backup. If you want to restore the device to its factory settings, select Set Up as New Device.

    • In Singapore, it is illegal to jailbreak a device or download unauthorized software. Singapore police investigate devices and computers, if they find out that you have cracked your iPhone, you will be fined, detained or jailed for the offence.
    • Jailbreak voids the warranty, and Apple will not repair or replace an iOS device if there is a problem. However, you can still use the warranty if you restore the device as it was before jailbreak via iTunes backup.
    • Never pay a fee to jailbreak, if unfortunately you have done it, try to find a way to stop that action.
