General knowledge is valuable information regarding common interests in a society, culture, civilization, community or country, gathered from a variety of media. This knowledge is not expert information on a particular subject, rather it is knowledge about all areas of human life – current affairs, fashion, family, health , art and science. Although acquiring general knowledge takes time and effort, many of a person’s qualities and skills such as intelligence, problem solving, confidence, and openness will be assessed through through the amount of general knowledge that the person possesses. Moreover, general knowledge will be very useful for the process of growing up, becoming an elite citizen and contributing to a more sustainable society.

Read
- Sign up as a member of your local public library. This is often free or inexpensive, giving you access to thousands of books with very pleasant return deadlines.
- Go to old sales events or fairs. You can buy books on many topics at very cheap prices that if you keep the cover price, you will not spend money to buy.
- Buy an e-reader to download reasonably priced books and articles from a variety of websites. This will quickly bring you satisfaction and more knowledge.
- Try to make reading the newspaper one of your morning routines. Newspapers will be delivered to your door without even waking up. This can also be a good reason to consider newspapers as a valuable source of information in cultivating general knowledge.
- Most newsrooms offer a cheaper subscription to online subscriptions. If you prefer to receive information electronically, consider choosing one of the many online news outlets.
