The green peel on the outside of a lemon often has a strong aroma and essential oils. Thus, lemon zest adds flavor to cocktails, desserts and countless other recipes. The easiest way to grate a lemon is a grater, while long pieces of lemon zest or twists to decorate a cocktail should be done with a traditional grater.
