Pests are found in every corner of the world. Flies, mosquitoes and ants are found in abundance by almost every American. However, some insects are quite annoying like the eye mosquito. Luckily, they’re pretty easy to get rid of, and there’s a lot you can do to prevent them from coming back. Getting rid of gnats is as simple as setting up a trap, or pouring some ammonia down the drain.
If you want to get rid of eye mosquitoes right away, you probably already have everything you need in your home:
- If you have ammonia or vinegar and baking soda , you can kill mosquitoes in the drain.
- If you have apple cider vinegar and a glass jar , you can set up an eye trap.
- If you have wine and soapy water , you can make a wine trap.
- If you have lemon-flavored dishwashing liquid , you can make a spray on the plants.
Steps
Kill mosquitoes in sinks and drains
- To replace the smell of ammonia, you can add a few grams of baking soda to the drain, then add 200 ml of vinegar. The mixture should be slightly bubbly, then let it sit for a few hours before draining.
Eye mosquito trap
- Mosquitoes will fly into the jar, but won’t be able to get out. When the jar is full of mosquitoes and you no longer see any mosquitoes around, throw the jar away and say goodbye to your mosquito-eye problem.
- If you don’t have apple cider vinegar on hand, any type of vinegar will work. Regular white vinegar will also work, although you may need to add a few drops of dishwashing liquid (lemon flavor is better) to the jar to make it more attractive to mosquitoes. Another method is to chop some bananas or put some banana peels in a jar.
- If you don’t have a jar with a lid, you can make another trap by cutting off the top 1/3 of a soda bottle and turning the cut upside down onto the bottle to create a funnel shape. Wrap tape to secure.
- Take a small container (such as a drinking cup).
- Pour some wine to ¾ cup. This is a great way to use up any leftover wine at the bottom of the bottle.
- Add a drop or more of dishwashing liquid and stir gently.
- Leave alone. Before long, thousands of mosquitoes will be attracted to the wine glass. They try to land on the surface of the liquid, but the soapy water reduces the surface tension of the wine. As a result, the mosquito will fall straight down and drown.
Prevent mosquito eyes from coming back
- When you store food, make sure it is stored in an airtight container in an airtight container or refrigerator. Store fruits in the refrigerator to prevent them from overripe and attract mosquitoes. [1] X Research Source
- Never leave dirty dishes in the sink because leftover food crumbs can attract mosquitoes. Wash dishes immediately after use and cover the shelves with a clean dry towel.
- Avoid leaving garbage bags in the house overnight. Throw out all trash every night and make sure the outside bins are covered.
- Regularly clean household trash cans and scrub lids and surfaces with bleach. Bleach will kill mosquito eyes as soon as it comes in contact.
Remove eye mosquitoes from plants
- Leave the solution on the plant for 1 or 2 hours, this will kill the mosquitoes. Then you need to spray cold water on the plant to wash off the soap, to avoid damaging the plant.
Advice
- There are many diverse species of mosquitoes that are difficult to identify and rarely become a problem. Once you identify where the gnats come from, you’ll be able to use one of the methods above to get rid of them, no matter what type of mosquito it is.
- I use 100ml of lemon flavored beer and add a drop or two of regular unscented dishwashing liquid. I put four such traps around the house. I put ammonia in the drain and let it sit for 2 hours before rinsing. All the eye mosquitoes were gone by the next morning.
- Wrap houseplants in a trash bag and leave for several days. The mosquitoes will die, and the plants will be fine.
- Put in a cup 15 ml of lemon juice and a little Windex cleaner. Let the mosquitoes fly in and they will die.
- If your home is so infested with mosquitoes that they fly like tornadoes over the sink drain, suck up the mosquitoes with a vacuum cleaner with a hose attached. This will suck out mosquitoes faster than using a liquid trap, is non-toxic, and doesn’t smell like vinegar. Persevere every day, you will kill mosquitoes faster when they breed, and they will be gone in just a week.
