How to Get Pokemon Shedinja

Shedinja is a mysterious Pokémon that floats in place in the air and has a halo above its head. It only has 1 HP (health) but is not knocked down by most attacks in the game. The process of obtaining the Shedinja involves evolving the Pokémon Nincada and achieving a few other requirements. Shedinja can be a powerful and surprising Pokémon in the squad you bring to the competition.

In Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald versions – You can find Nincada in the grass at Route 116 (street 116).
In FireRed and LeafGreen versions – You need to trade to get Nincada.
In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum versions – You can find Nincada in the Eterna Forest, but you need the special item Poké Radar.
In HeartGpd and SoulSilver versions – You can get the Nincada in the National Park Bugs on Thursdays and Saturdays.
In Black, White, B2, W2 version – You need to trade to get Nincada.
In versions X and Y – You can find Nincada in the grass on Route 6. You can also find it in the Ground-type Friend Safari house.
In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire versions – You can find Nincada in the grass on Route 116.

Leave an empty spot in the squad. To get the Shedinja when Nincada evolves, you need an empty spot in the squad. That means you can only have five or less Pokémon with you, including Nincada.

There is a spare Poké Ball (in some versions only). Some versions of the game require you to have at least one spare Poké Ball in your inventory. It should be a standard Poké Ball, not a special ball like the Ultra Ball.

Diamond, Pearl and Platinum versions do not require additional Poké Balls. All other versions have this requirement.
Note that since the Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum versions do not have a Poké Ball requirement, Shedinja will copy the Poké Ball used to capture Nincada. This is the only way to catch Shedinja into a non-standard Poké Ball.

Help Nincada reach at least level 20. This is the first level where Nincada tries to evolve into Ninjask. Make sure you meet both the void and the Poké Ball requirements before allowing Nincada to evolve, or you won’t get the Shedinja. Not allowing Nincada to evolve will allow you to continue to train both Nincada and Shedinja at the same time, as Shedinja will inherit everything from Nincada when evolving. You can prevent evolution by holding B while preparing to evolve. For example, not allowing Nincada to evolve until it reaches level 50 will create a Shedinja also at level 50, inheriting all the moves that Nincada has learned up to that point.

Allows Nincada to evolve to receive the Shedinja. As long as the requirements are met, Shedinja will appear in your squad. You will not receive a notification that you have received it.

Since Shedinja evolves from Nincada, if Nincada sparkles, so will Shedinja. Shedinja will also inherit the entire effort value (EV) and individual value (IV) of Nincada.
Shedinja has only 1 HP, but is not damaged by multiple attacks. Shedinja’s Wonder Guard ability only allows “Super Effective” to attack. Which includes Fire (Fire), Flying (Flying), Ghost (Ghost) and Dark (Dark) moves. It is also capable of attacking quite effectively. If you teach the Quick Claw trait to Shedinja, it can be allowed to attack first and kill the enemy before they use Super Effective.
