Start with a square sheet of paper. You can use origami paper or fold any paper diagonally from one corner to the opposite edge and cut off the excess. It is important to use square paper to fold the box.
Fold the paper in half. Use your fingers to fold the folded paper and unfold it.
Fold the paper in half on the other side. Use your fingers to fold the folded paper and unfold it. Now, you have two folds that intersect in the center of the square paper. [1] X Research Source
Fold the corners to the center. Fold each corner to the midpoint so that the sharp vertices touch. Use your hands to create folds. Rotate the paper so that there is a square in front of you but do not unfold the paper. [2] X Research Source
Fold the top and bottom edges to the center of the square. Make two folds to secure.
Unfold the folded folds. Unfold the folded half and the triangles below the fold. Leave only triangular folds on the sides.
Fold the long edge to the center. Insert the paper into the lower top of the triangular fold. Fold both edges. You will get the shape of a tie with two pointed ends.

Form the box

Create more folds. In this tutorial, the diamond-shaped point of the “tie” furthest away from you is called the “head”, and the diamond-shaped part closest to you will be the “leg”. Fold the lower pointed end of the “foot” rhombus into the lower vertex of the “head” rhombus. Then, fold the upper pointed end of the “head” rhombus to the lower end of the “foot” rhombus. Fold along the folded edge for a neat fold.
Make a box. Make a crease along the long edge to create two sides of the box.
With the part of the box already in place, continue to stack until there are two more remaining walls. As you raise the other two ends, the crease from the previous folds will form the triangular folds that you will fold inward. Make sure these triangles are folded inward before proceeding. The side of the box is formed by folding the paper over the triangle corners and the top triangular paper will be folded to fit the bottom of the box that you previously folded neatly into the side of the box to keep the box in place. Once folded, you should see a triangle in one corner of the box.
Repeat the operation for the other end. Make sure the folds are neat and not wrinkled.

    Completed.
  • Advice

    • For best results, fold the paper neatly. For each fold, carefully line up the edge or corner where it needs to be folded, then fold tightly.
    • You can apply some glue to the triangular fold at the bottom of the box to keep it in place, or you can use duct tape.
    • Fold the paper diagonally in the first step, along with the straight fold. This will help a lot in the following steps.
    • Make the lid of the box by stacking another similar box.
    • If you use colored paper on one side, you will start folding with the colored side of the paper underneath.

    Warning

    • Don’t put something too heavy in the box because it will taste flat. Remember that the box is made of paper.
    • Be careful not to cut the paper into your hands.
