This is an article on how to find a house in Minecraft. If you don’t want to leave your old house and start a new journey of reclaiming in the wild, you can try some of the ways in this article to find your way home.
Steps
Apply basic tips

- You’ll have to turn on Survival Mode temporarily if you’re playing Creative Mode.
- However, this will not work at all if you have never slept in a bed, or the bed you used to sleep in is not in the house.
- If your character is carrying valuable resources that you don’t want to lose after the character dies, you can create a chest to store and check the coordinates by pressing F3 (on a computer) or by viewing the map (console and mobile versions only). After respawning, you can return to that coordinate to reclaim resources.
- If you use Java Edition and your world is set to Hardcore Mode, you cannot kill characters; you have to delete your world instead.

- Mountains
- Biomes (such as rainforests)
- Where there is water (or dry water)
- Buildings made from the game (such as towns)

- Even if your house isn’t near the original spawn location, you still get the benefit of using a compass as it helps you identify certain areas.
- If you have created and used a magnetite with a compass, you will be taken to the location of the magnetite. This is useful when your base is far from the original spawn location.

- You can move instantly in Singleplayer mode, but this requires you to know the coordinates of the house or guess (which usually doesn’t help you find the house).
Using Minutor on a computer

- However, you cannot use Minutor to find homes when playing console or mobile versions of Minecraft (such as PE).

- On Mac, be sure to click the OSX link here.

- Windows — Double-click the Minutor file, then follow the instructions until the Minutor installation is complete.
- Mac — Open the DMG Minutor file, give the software access when prompted, click and drag the Minutor application’s icon to the “Applications” folder, and follow the on-screen instructions.

- If the button is green, advanced settings are enabled.
- You may have to click OK to confirm your decision before continuing.

- Skip this step on Mac.

- Windows — Click the address bar at the top of the File Explorer window to select the path, then press Ctrl + C to copy.
- Mac — Press the Contrp key while clicking the “saves” folder, press the ⌥ Option key, and click Copy [fpder] as Pathname in the menu that appears.

(Windows) or Spotlight

(Mac), and then click or double-click Minutor in the search results.
- The Minutor program may hang on the first boot after installation. If so, you can simply close and reopen Minutor.

- On a Mac, this is the option in the upper-left corner of the screen.

- Windows — Click the address bar at the top of the “Open World” window to select the content, then press Ctrl + V to paste the copied path and press ↵ Enter .
- Mac — Click the View tab, click Show Path Bar , click the path bar, and press Ctrl + V .

- You may have to double-click the “saves” folder first to open it.
- For example, if the world has a house you’re looking for named “Denise’s Land”, you can simply click on the “Denise’s Land” folder in the “saves” folder.

- On Mac, you’ll click Choose here.

- When you find a house, you can select with your mouse to see the coordinates displayed in the lower left corner of the window. Next, use the in-game F3 menu to find a house.
Avoid getting lost

- Avoid sleeping in another bed until you remember the location of the house.
- If your bed is destroyed, you need to create and sleep in a new bed.

- It is best to rewrite the coordinates as soon as you finish building the house.
- If you’ve never been lost, you can open the coordinates menu and start scrolling in the direction that makes the numbers approach the house’s coordinate number.
- For Minecraft mobile (PE) and consoles, you need to use the map to see the coordinates.

- Placing torches also keeps monsters away from you when you need to move in the night.

- If you don’t want to go through the resource-intensive process of creating a beacon, creating a torch tower will also help you achieve the same goal.

- If you can’t see the sun, you can grow sunflowers, because these flowers usually face the sun.

- You can also place wooden road signs with more detailed information, or use wool as a sign. For example, red wool means “lava this way” and blue wool means “towards the exit”.
- When you get lost, you can dig your way to the surface to search for other lands. However, this is a risky thing to do, as rocks or lava at the top can kill your character.
