Winged eyes can be very seductive and edgy when properly drawn, but for someone inexperienced with makeup, this skill can be quite challenging. Practice applying eyeliner with your bare hands or use tape as a guide to get the perfect line, then fix the eyeliner to neat and wait a bit to dry. If you like, you can apply a little more mascara to complete the eyes.

Steps

Draw sketches by hand

Apply concealer or primer on your eyelids. Before applying eyeliner, apply an eye primer or concealer under the eyes and on the eyelids, then blend. This step will create a smooth and even base for eyeliner, and help the eyeliner stick better to the eyelids.

  • If you’re using a concealer, look for an oil-free formula. Oils can make eyeliner more prone to smudges.
Apply some eyeshadow if you like. If you want to apply makeup with eyeshadow, it is best to apply eyeshadow before applying eyeliner. If you do the opposite, the eyeliner can get smudged and smudged when you try to apply eyeshadow.

  • Unless you’re going for a striking evening makeup look, you should probably wear a light eyeshadow when paired with a winged eyeliner.
Draw eyeliner on the upper lash line. Using a thin line of eyeliner, draw a thin line as close to the upper eyelid as possible. Try to draw so that the line is very thin. This line will serve as the base for the winged eyeliner.

  • Start from the inner corner of the eye and draw outwards. Pause when drawing to the end of the lash line.
  • At this time, the eyeliner does not have to be very neat, but it must be thin. You’ll be applying eyeliner again, so even if it’s a little uneven, it’s okay.
  • Keep eyelids as flat as possible while applying. If necessary, you can tilt your head back and open your eyes only slightly while liner.
  • Use the little finger of your non-dominant hand to keep your eyelids tight while you draw.
  • Instead of trying to draw a continuous line, draw a series of small strokes. Such a person will be easier.

Calculate how long the eyes should be. Place the eyeliner pencil at the end of the lower lash line, diagonally upward so that it resembles an extension of the lower lash line.

  • The eyeliner will extend outward and diagonally upwards.
  • With drooping eyelids, you may need to angle them outward rather than upward to avoid drooping eyelids.
  • To create the right angle for the wing line, imagine a line connecting the outer edge of the nose wing to the outer corner of the eyebrow.

Draw a thin line diagonally outward to make the wings. This line will coincide with the imaginary seam when you hold the eyeliner pencil up to the eyelid. In other words, this line is almost like an extended upper lash line.

  • You need a mirror before you start. You also need to rest your elbows and arms on a firm surface. That way it will be easier for you to control your hand!
  • Start from the end of the lash line drawn earlier.
  • Draw a diagonal line about 45 degrees outward and upward. The line should point towards the end of the eyebrow.
  • The length of the wing liner is up to your liking. Draw short strokes for a natural look, extending up to below the brow bone if you want to be more dramatic, but never all the way to the brow.
Draw a straight line from the tip of the wing to the middle of the eyelid. Keeping the eyelids as flat and taut as possible, draw a diagonal line from the tip of the wing down holding the upper lid.

  • Close your eyes when drawing. You can see with the other eye.
  • Place the index finger of your non-dominant hand on the brow bone, gently pulling the upper eyelid to keep the stretch.
  • Use your dominant hand to draw a wing line.
Paint inside the drawn frame. Use eyeliner to fill in the entire skin inside the frame you just created.

  • There’s no need to paint very carefully if you’re going to use liquid eyeliner on top of the pencil line.
  • Apply eyeliner very close to the eyelids so that no skin is left open. The goal here is to make the eyelashes blend into the eyeliner.
Fill in the eyeliner line. To make the eye line appear thinner as it reaches the inner corner of the eye, you can use an eyeliner pencil to draw short strokes to smooth the corner between the tip of the wing and the upper lash line.

  • The eyeliner will be thinnest at the innermost corner of the eye, but should look thinner as you go in.

Line eyeliner (alternative method)

Stick a small piece of tape at the corner of your eye. The tape should start from the corner of the eye and extend to the end of the eyebrow. [1] X Research Source

  • To make it easier to draw, the tape needs to align from the tip to the outer corner of the eye, finally stopping at the end of the eyebrow. However, you should only apply tape from the corner of your eye to your eyebrow, if possible.
  • If you want the eyes not to stand out and not slant high, you should stick with the glue outward rather than upward.
  • Make sure the tape is close to the skin so that the eyeliner doesn’t smudge underneath.
  • If your skin is too sensitive to the tape, you can use a credit card or a small straight-edged object that is pressed against the skin at a similar angle.

Draw a line along the upper lash line. Use a thin eyeliner to draw a thin line on the upper eyelid. This line is thinner and closer to the upper lash line, the better. Extend the line until it touches the edge of the tape.

  • Start from the inner corner of the eye, gradually drawing to the outer corner of the eye.
  • The line doesn’t need to be very neat at this point, as you’ll be drawing it again. However, although the line may be uneven, you should still try not to apply too thick to avoid the eyeliner becoming heavy when finished.
  • Keep your eyelids as flat as possible when applying eyeliner. If you find it difficult, tilt your head back and only open your eyes slightly when applying.
Draw eyeliner along the edge of the tape. Starting at the end of the upper lash line, draw an upward slant along the edge of the tape, stopping just below the brow bone. [2] X Research Source

  • Don’t worry if you accidentally draw on the tape. If the tape is glued close to the skin, the eyeliner will not smudge down, especially when you use a thin eyeliner.
  • Carefully peel off the tape when you’re done.
Repaint the line so that the outer corner of the eye is thicker than the inner corner of the eye. Fill in the eye line and upper lash line with eyeliner.

  • Do not repaint at the beginning of the eye. To be beautiful, the line at the tip of the eye needs to be thin.
  • The outer part of the eye needs to be stroked into a curved line. In general, the upper lash line should follow the natural shape of the eye, but the outer corner should be thicker and thinner as it enters the inner corner.

Perfecting the look

Step away from the mirror and reflect on your work. Take a step back. Blink, walk around the room for a few minutes, and look in the mirror to see your entire face before looking at the eyeliner again. Sometimes, certain images can become distorted when you look at them for too long. You will only judge your achievement as a success or failure after you have stepped back and looked back with a new perspective.

  • When looking at the eyeliner again, you should also compare both eyes. The eyes on both sides need to be relatively equal in angle and length.
Fill in the eyeliner with liquid eyeliner. Use liquid eyeliner to highlight the wing-shaped eyeliner. You need to repaint the entire eyeliner. [3] X Research Sources

  • By applying two layers of eyeliner, it will be easier to adjust the eye shape. The wings on the eyes will be bolder, sharper.
  • Rest your dominant elbow on the table. Thus, the hand will be more stable when applying eyeliner.
  • Remember to draw the eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible to avoid creating a gap between the eyelid and the eyeliner.
  • Apply liquid eyeliner with a smooth, continuous line.
Erase irregular contours or draw errors. If the eyeliner is jagged or uneven in some places, you can carefully remove it by dipping the diagonal brush or eyeshadow brush in makeup remover to remove it. [4] X Research Sources

  • When needed, you can also use a cotton swab to erase the wrong lines. The pointed tip is easier to remove than the round tip.
  • You can also use concealer to cover flaws. Use your finger, makeup brush, or cotton swab and gently dab concealer over blemishes or uneven lines.

Wait 10 to 15 seconds for it to dry. After applying liquid eyeliner, you need to wait a bit before blinking. If you blink immediately after applying, the eyeliner may smudge.

  • If you accidentally smudge a little, you just need to use a cotton swab dipped in makeup remover to clean it.

Apply mascara if desired. Once the eyeliner is dry, you can apply mascara. Choose a color that matches your eyeliner and brush the underside of your upper lashes from root to tip.

    • If you want to curl your eyelashes, curl them after applying eyeliner and before applying mascara.
  • Advice

    • In general, the best times to apply eyeliner are after applying eyeshadow and before applying mascara. If you apply eyeshadow after applying eyeliner, the line may be smudged or accidentally covered. If you apply mascara before applying eyeliner, your eyelashes can get in the way when you apply eyeliner.
    • Use a mirror that doesn’t have to be held so that you have both hands free when drawing the winged eyes.
    • If you want to skip the pencil eyeliner step, you can immediately apply liquid eyeliner with a very thin brush.
    • Practice drawing for friends and family, and you’ll learn how to draw the best angle.
    • Try to follow the natural shape of the eyes. If you try to change the shape of your eyes, you will make them look smaller.
