{“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/0/0d/Draw-a-Kitten-Step-1.jpg/v4-728px-Draw-a-Kitten-Step-1. jpg”,”bigUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/0/0d/Draw-a-Kitten-Step-1.jpg/v4-728px-Draw-a-Kitten-Step- 1.jpg”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:306,”bigWidth”:728,”bigHeight”:485,”licensing”:”<div class=”mw-parser-output”></div> “}
Draw an outline of the kitten’s head and body. Draw a trapezoid with soft edges for the top and draw a cross inside the shape. Draw a rectangle for the torso. Note that kittens have a larger head to body ratio when compared to large cats.

  • The cross in the cat’s head will help you determine where to draw the eyes, nose, and mouth. The intersection of the cross will be about the middle of the face.
  • Remember that the cat’s head should overlap the cat’s body. The upper edge of the cat’s body almost coincides with the dashed line of the cross on the cat’s face.

Add cat ears and paws. Sketch cat paw shape. The cat’s paws will be rounded triangles, starting at the bottom of the rectangle as the body of the cat. Remember that the “far” pins should be slightly smaller than the “near” pins.

  • Similarly, draw two large triangles at the top two corners to make the ears. These triangles have to be bigger than the leg drawings to look cartoonish.

Sketch a cat’s tail. You can draw a wavy or more angular tail as you like. Either way, the cat’s tail should have at least one curve; Don’t draw a straight tail.

{“smallUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images_en/thumb/0/02/Draw-a-Kitten-Step-4.jpg/v4-728px-Draw-a-Kitten-Step-4. jpg”,”bigUrl”:”https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/0/02/Draw-a-Kitten-Step-4.jpg/v4-728px-Draw-a-Kitten-Step- 4.jpg”,”smallWidth”:460,”smallHeight”:306,”bigWidth”:728,”bigHeight”:485,”licensing”:”<div class=”mw-parser-output”></div> “}
Draw a cat face. Based on the rectangle inside the trapezoid, draw 2 circles for the eyes, symmetrically placed on both sides of the vertical line in the middle and just above the horizontal line.

  • Add nose and mouth. The position of the nose will be in the middle of the vertical line and just below the center of the horizontal line. The cat’s mouth looks like a round “W”, with the middle stroke of the W attached to the tip of the nose.

Shade the necessary strokes of the cat’s head and body from the previous sketch. You can draw small curved lines to represent the hairs. Add 3 straight whiskers on both sides of the cat’s cheeks.

Consider drawing patterns on the cat’s coat. Many cats have striped coats that you can add to the drawing if you want. Draw some triangular stripes on the cat’s back and tail.

Erase unnecessary strokes. Those are overlapping strokes and crosses in the center of the cat’s face.

Color the picture. You can use any color you like. Consider giving the kitten a light brown coat. If you want to draw a striped cat, you should draw slightly different striped shapes.

Sketch the body and head of the cat. Draw a circle for the head with a cross inside and an oblong for the body.

  • The kitten in the picture will be lying on its back, so the top of the cat’s head will be slightly lower than its body.
  • Instead of drawing a cross with a vertical and horizontal line, draw it slightly away so that it looks like an “X” with the intersection at the center of the circle.
  • The oval body will be twice as long as the head (but the height is approximately the same).

Draw a circle in the center of the cat’s body. This will be the ball the kitten is playing with.

  • This circle should be slightly smaller than the cat’s head.

Sketch the kitten’s paws circling the ball. Depending on your preference, you can create different complexity for the cat’s paws.

  • It is best to draw the cat’s paw into 2 parts. The legs on the “top” should be slightly longer, as shown by the long ovals that overlap the ball and the rounded ovals connecting the paws to the cat’s body. The “bottom” pins are similar, but smaller, because the pins are more hidden.

Points add ears and tail. The cat’s ears will be 2 triangles coming from the cat’s head, protruding from the side horizontally. The tail will be a slightly rounded 4-sided shape at the bottom of the cat’s body.

Draw a cat face. Draw the cat’s eyes, nose, and mouth based on the diagonal line of the sketch. You can also draw a few more whiskers with long strokes.

  • The cat’s eyes will be on the horizontal line in the middle.
  • The nose will be on the vertical line in the middle, plus a “W” shape that connects to the tip of the nose to make the mouth.

Add details to the cat’s paws. Seen from above, you will only see straight lines of the toes. For the hindfoot (bottom-up view), you will see the entire foot pad.

  • Remember to highlight the whole ball.

  • Note that the cat’s body should be only slightly larger than the cat’s head and slightly away from the head.
  • The intersection of the cross will be near the center of the head.

  • The two hind legs will be two arrowhead shapes attached to the oval bottom.
  • The cat’s tail is a curved line that sticks out behind the oval bottom.

Draw the basic strokes of the cat. Draw more “fat” shapes around the paw and tail lines to form the cat’s paws. Add curved lines to the front of the feet to resemble toes. Add a “W” shape to the tip of the nose to make the mouth.

  • You can also “ruffle” the cat outlines with jagged strokes for a furry effect.

Color the kitten. Use any color you like, but remember that the area of the cat’s snout should be a little lighter to make it stand out. If there are stripes or patterns on the cat’s fur, you should also paint these patterns in a different color.

Sketch a circle for the head and an oval for the body. These two circles are close to each other, a little overlap, the better. Draw a curved line connecting the torso and the head.

  • The body of the cat is just a slightly oval shape and slightly larger than the head.
  • The seam between the cat’s head and body should reach about halfway between the two curves above the head and body.

Draw a circle for the mouth and a curved line for the tail. The mouth will be a small circle at the bottom of the head, slightly overlapping the oval for the body of the cat. The tail will start from near the back of the oval as the body, following the cat’s natural curve towards the face.

Outline cat ears. The cat’s ears will be 2 triangles protruding above the cat’s head. This kitten is sleeping, so the lower ear will be slightly flattened/horizontal, while the upper ear will be tilted upwards and away from the body.

  • Note that the cat’s ears will be approximately as large as the snout on the cat’s face.

Add eyes and nose. A cat’s nose is a small semi-circle that lies close to the edge of the cat’s snout. Cat’s eyes are small, straight lines that lie horizontally behind the snout and occupy a small part of the face.

  • Since the kitten is sleeping, you will use lines that show closed eyes instead of circles like open eyes.

Draw a circle for the thighs. This circle is twice the size of the head and placed slightly off the center and overlapping the cat’s body.

  • The cat’s thighs will barely reach the bottom edge of the cat’s snout.

Draw a basic sketch. Expand and complete the cat’s tail. Highlight the curve of the upper edge of the thigh and the lines connecting the torso, head, and ears.

Erase the sketches. Add details like small strokes in the ears and hairs.

  • Consider adding triangular stripes or other patterns on the cat’s fur.

Coloring kittens. Use any color you like. Remember that the nose should be a different color, the top ear should be a different color too, since you’re looking at the inside of the ear (doesn’t apply to the lower ear; you’ll see the hairy outer part of that ear).

    • If you have stripes on your cat, paint the stripes in a different color.
