Baking or cooking. The beauty of baking or cooking is that the activity itself helps you lose track of time and have something delicious (hopefully) to eat when you’re done. Try searching for an interesting recipe in a long-forgotten cookbook or a recipe online and experiment.

Self beautify. Try on a few different makeup looks to see how you look. Browse through your wardrobe and try out combinations of outfits that you might wear for the next few days. Match the jewelry, makeup style with each outfit and choose the right accessories.

  • Manicure. Paint your nails in trendy styles or paint each nail a different color.

Practice a skill. If you don’t have anything better to do, this is the perfect time to perfect a skill you have. If you play soccer, take a ball out to the yard or park near you and practice dribbling or hitting the ball. If you know how to play the piano, you can practice playing some music. You don’t even have to play from beginning to end, just try out a few lines or songs that you love.

Clean the room. Make sure everything in the room looks neat and clean. A clean room makes you feel accomplished. A clean room also helps you regain energy to overcome boredom and be motivated to do other things.

  • Rearrange your wardrobe. When you are bored is also the time when you should take advantage of doing things that you normally don’t do, such as rearranging your wardrobe. Check your clothes to see which ones no longer fit you or which you no longer wear. Your mood will be better when you make room for new items.

Clean places you don’t normally clean. Drop by your attic or garage to check out what you can clean up or throw away. Sometimes you will find items that you thought were lost while cleaning!

  • The places people often forget to clean are the remote control, the back of the refrigerator, the toilet handle, the light switches, and the dishwasher. [1] X Research Source Take a clean rag and wipe it from top to bottom.

Home decoration. When you have time, it’s time to implement one of your home decoration projects. Turn on the music, you will be excited and motivated to get the job done!.

  • Decorate. Hang the picture you’ve been keeping in storage for half a year. And if possible, redecorate your living space. Try redecorating the furniture or repainting the walls.
  • Fix broken things in the house. It could be a leaking sink, or sagging front steps. Take a moment to fix the creaking door and you’ll feel the result instead of being bored!

Indulge yourself while traveling

Observe people. One of the most enjoyable parts of traveling is being in places with lots of people to see. Whenever you feel bored in a crowded place such as train station, airport, bus station, coffee shop … observe the people around.

  • Imagine stories about the people you meet. The woman in the zebra print leggings is an international spy on her way to a meeting with her superiors. She wears colorful clothes so that people don’t notice her face.

Image titled 223328 28

Eavesdropping. Eavesdrop on conversations going on around you. Try to find weird conversations to eavesdrop on and don’t let people notice you’re spying on them. Instead act like you are reading a book or magazine.

  • Rewrite what you hear and adapt it into a short story or a poem.
  • If you’re traveling with friends, turn this eavesdropping into a pastime, see who overhears the weirdest conversations or sayings.

Dress up under a new look. When you travel, you can be whoever you want to be. Be a dependable gentle person when you are on the plane, at the bus stop, while waiting for the train… Let’s see if this look is trusted in the eyes of people!

Create games. Sometimes this is the only way that makes you feel good, whether you are an adult or a child. You can play “I am a spy” – a fun game for kids in the car. You can also create your own game, depending on where you are.

  • Establish a point system for troublemakers. This can come in handy when you’re stuck somewhere during the peak holiday season. There are always people who have a strong ability to irritate others and turn their disruptive habits into a game that makes them more acceptable. For example, you’ll get an extra 10 points if the guy cuts you out of line, or an extra 5 points for a kid who screams during the flight.

Call or text a friend. Ask about their situation and pass on your quirky travel experiences to them. You can think of ideas for filling time. You will have someone to chat and pass the time with.

Do exercise. A great way to cure depression is to do some exercises. The endorphins released through exercise make you feel better and happier. Jog, bike, walk, get around where you live, do yoga, jump rope, swing.

  • Use this time to find out where you live. You can both exercise, dispel boredom, and maybe find some secret places.

Go on a little adventure. Drive a car, take a bus, or cycle into the city. Take a bus to somewhere you wouldn’t normally go, ride your bike to a neighborhood full of rich houses, or find a secret park.

Donate to a local food bank. Especially, if you’ve spent time getting rid of items you don’t use in your home, you can now donate those items to a food bank; things like discarded clothing (but still in good condition, not faded or worn), or unused canned food.

  • You can also spend time helping a food bank such as replenishing or serving food if possible. It’s a good way to make a difference instead of wasting time doing nothing.

Spend time at a local animal shelter. Help take care of the animals, walk the dogs and wash them. Animal shelters often need volunteers to help, and it’s great to play with the animals (especially when you don’t have any pets) and you’ll find yourself doing something useful.

  • Ask friends or parents if they need your help. You not only need to help strangers, you can completely help your loved ones. Offer to help them garden or clean the house. This will help you use your free time usefully, you will have someone by your side to relax and do good work. Not a bad way to overcome your boredom, right?

Doodling. This is a great way to keep your hands busy while your mind is focused on what the teacher or professor has to say. You can also do this at work, when you’re thinking about upcoming projects, or when you’re just trying to appear busy to your boss. [2] X Research Source

  • If you have a little bit of ability, you can even hold a doodle contest with your friends or colleagues. Try creating a great drawing on an original drawing, or doodle on someone else’s drawing to create something truly improvised.

Participate in a creative project. You want to challenge yourself at work or in class, and if you’re feeling bored, maybe the challenge isn’t enough for you. Try suggesting a challenging project to your boss or teacher. [3] X Research Sources

Reorganize. When you have some free time at work or at school, it’s time to get organized. Sometimes this can even help you increase your work/study productivity. Clear out your desk or loose covers. Make sure everything is in its place and can be easily found.

Clean the computer. Clean the screen, clean the space between the keys. If your computer is white, try to clean it so it looks like new.

  • Rearrange your computer desk so you can easily find it. Put all the pictures in a folder called “pictures” and make sure all your files are in the appropriately named folders.

Meditation. If you have extra time and are feeling bored, you can use your free time to meditate. Meditation helps you calm down and focus on the tasks ahead. It’s a great way to regenerate energy.

  • Sit quietly at your desk and close your eyes (or pretend you’re working). Breathe in and out deeply and focus on your breath. If a thought creeps into your head, let it pass.

Read. Reading is a pleasure, you just need to pick up a book, a magazine or a newspaper. Reading helps you to forget the time and get your mind interested in something. Sometimes free time is an opportunity to try something new.

  • You can hide a book under a textbook in class or at your desk. Pretend you’re busy studying or working, but you’re actually doing something much more interesting.
  • Read detective stories and try to guess the ending before it all becomes clear, or try some fantasy or science fiction stories. Look for stories that are fictional or spiritual, philosophical, occult, or even sacred topics like the Bible or the Koran.
  • See what books you can borrow from the library and take with you on the way to class or work. Some libraries even have online databases where you can search for any book without leaving your classroom or workplace.

Learn something new every day. Having free time is a great opportunity to learn something new and interesting. Then you can impress your friends and family. For example, learn to do magic tricks, discover how to blow fire, or how to create a chainmail (email that requires recipients to forward to multiple people)!

Online. If you have a computer with an internet connection, you can go online and surf the internet. Just make sure you don’t get caught by your boss or teacher.

  • Go to an online shopping site like Amazon or Ebay and search for the weirdest thing you can find and post it on your Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr account.
  • Go to Instagram, Facebook, or Vine. Upload photos, share stories, view photos and other posts.
  • Watch any video on YouTube. Choose a comedy if you want to lift your spirits, or choose an entertaining clip if you want to follow the trend.
  • Use Pinterest. Choose a favorite topic, make a photo board, pin the pictures you want, or view photos of others.

Small talk with a colleague. Sometimes the best way to amuse yourself is to chat with a colleague. Pick someone you don’t know much about and learn about them (where do they come from? What school do they go to? What are their hobbies outside of work?). You can even make a new friend.

Compromise. Okay, you can’t agree to anything. Pick one thing you want to do and combine it with something your friend wants to do. For example, you want to watch a movie while your friend wants to make a cake. Then bake a red carpet cake with edible movie-themed decorations (if you’re an experienced baker) and then watch a cake movie. This might be a bad example, but you’ve probably got your own idea.

Listening to music. Maybe there’s something in your favorite song that inspires you. This may seem like an odd idea, but don’t try it! Listen to a song that describes something familiar to you and get ideas from it.

Eat. To limit ready-to-eat foods that cause excess calories, you can cook with friends. These extra calories can then be eliminated by exercise. Eating while bored is not a bad habit if you know how to eliminate excess calories and choose healthy foods. But if you’re going to exercise, make sure to drink enough water before that, now you can turn exercise into a game. You can race your bike with your friends or simply run after your friend.
Challenge puzzle. Don’t be fooled here. If you’re in a crowded place, this is great. For example, challenge your friend to a stranger and ask if they want to finish your bad lemonade. If you’re at school, a great way to make your lunch more enjoyable is to challenge a couple to sit at two different tables, with some love interest, and try to be cool.
  • Build a dance schedule with friends. First choose a good music, then choose the way to move, and finally choose the outfit. Then choose a day to perform and practice every day!
