In this article, the wikiHow will guide you to temporarily disable watermarks and notifications related to Windows activation. Although you can change the value in the Services menu or adjust the Windows Registry to turn it off temporarily, activating Windows is still the only way you can turn off these notifications completely.

Type services into Start to find Services, an application that allows you to control system processes running on your computer.

Scroll down and click Software Protection . This service is located in the “S” section of the window.

Click Stop in the left, center of the window to stop the Software Protection service.

  • If this button is disabled (it’s greyed out), you’ll have to resort to the Registry.

Click the OK button at the bottom of the window. Windows activation will be disabled until the computer is restarted or updated: then you will have to disable it again.
