Quite a few people worry about their body odor in certain areas, especially sensitive areas such as armpits or feet. Fortunately, there are many ways to help you clean and quickly get rid of unpleasant body odors.
Steps
Looking for a Quick Deodorant
- When showering, focus on the underarms and feet, as those are the two most smelly areas of the body.
- Unlike deodorants, antiperspirants actually eliminate perspiration, while deodorants merely “cover” the odor, preventing it from “spreading”.
- There has been a great deal of controversy about whether aluminum-containing antiperspirants cause breast cancer or Alzheimer’s disease, but medical studies have never produced definitive evidence to support a link. between these two issues (or between breast cancer and parabens), so using these products can be considered safe. - Some deodorants last longer than others. If you are looking for a product that can quickly tackle body odor, you can use any deodorant. But if you want to find a product that will keep you smelling good for a long time, consider buying a good quality deodorant.
- Stir the mixture well, then dip a cloth in the solution. Wipe the wet cloth just dipped in the armpit area to deodorize your body.
- Squeeze a small amount into the palm of your hand, then rub your armpits with your hands. Disinfectant/bactericide will eliminate odor-causing bacteria.
- If you sweat, wash off the alum tablet after rubbing it on your skin.
- You can also dilute vodka with water and spray it under your armpits. This is a famous trick that has been described by Joan Rivers as a “Broadway trick” that she herself used. [6] X Research Source
- If vinegar isn’t what really works for you, you can try other natural products like tea tree oil or witch hazel, both of which have similar deodorizing effects as vinegar.
- However, you may need to test how much lemon juice to put on your skin. Since lemon juice is acidic, it can irritate the skin. If your skin feels irritated when you rub the lemon juice, wipe the area clean, wait a few hours and try again with a small amount.
- You can also try diluting lemon juice with water.
Keep Hygiene to Eliminate Body Odor
- Make sure you use an exfoliator a few times a week. Exfoliation can help remove dirt, dead skin, and bacteria that contribute to body odor. You can buy exfoliants at drugstores or make your own natural exfoliants.
- Use a towel or absorbent paper to dry off sweat and other wet liquids.
- After showering, you can sprinkle a little powder on skin areas like armpits to prevent moisture.
- If you’ve exercised or done other activities that cause you to sweat a lot, change your clothes afterward to keep your body clean and dry.
- You can also wear cotton or silk underwear underneath to absorb sweat and body moisture to limit body odor from leaching out of your clothes.
Lifestyle Changes to Eliminate Body Odor
- Foods to avoid: red meats, garlic and onions, spicy foods, processed foods high in sugar. All of these make you more “smelly”. You should also avoid caffeinated beverages, as those increase body odor.
- Foods to eat are: leafy vegetables, whole grains, raw nuts, healthy oils (piu oil, salmon oil, avocado oil …) and “plant-based” nutrients ” helps clean the inside (like parsley, parsley, celery, mint, sage, rosemary, thyme, and oregano). [10] X Research Source
- Supplementing with probiotics (good bacteria) helps to improve the quality of the intestinal microflora.
- Add digestive enzymes to your meals or add a little apple cider vinegar to aid digestion.
- Meditation can help you reduce stress. Meditate for about 15 minutes a day and you’ll find you can manage your stress (and therefore smell better).
- Yoga is also another good method to reduce stress.
- There are many different detox products available, so consult with your doctor before you try any, especially strong ones. This is important if you are undergoing treatment for an illness or are prone to irritation.
- Some people claim that you can enhance the benefits of detox products if you combine saunas or infrared saunas, although this has not been scientifically confirmed. Try sauna 2-3 times per week to help detox and reduce body odor. [12] X Research Source
- On average, adult women need to drink 2.2 liters of water, while adult men need 3 liters per day. [13] X Trusted Source Mayo Clinic Go to Source
- Some people have had positive experiences drinking warm water with a slice of lemon to hydrate the body and help with detoxification.
- However, make sure you shower thoroughly after exercising and dry your body, as mentioned above.
- Your doctor will prescribe a medication that includes antiperspirants. These medications can cause skin irritation, so make sure you only use them when you have a medical condition (such as Bromhidrosis or Hyperhidrosis).
- Botox can also block sweat glands, helping to reduce sweat production. However, again, you cannot do this without disease, because this method is very expensive and painful. The effects of botox can last a few months but this is not a long-term solution.
Advice
- Wash the skin under your arms after shaving. You can use alcohol or peroxide to wash it.
- Don’t try spraying perfume on your armpits. Perfume will only make body odor worse and can cause irritation and red pimples.
- Don’t mix too many soaps, deodorants, and perfumes together because scents don’t always mix.
- Soak your feet in salt water. Since feet are one of the most prone to odor problems, soak your feet in salt water from time to time as the salt will kill the bacteria that cause foot odor.
- Buy some canned wet wipes (similar to baby wipes) with disposable cleaning pads for quick cleaning. Some types of dry paper dipped in alcohol, in a zippered bag, have the same effect.
- If you smoke and can’t quit, use an e-cigarette because e-cigarettes only give off steam.
- If you have smelly feet, you should wear socks when wearing shoes (you should choose cotton socks because they can absorb moisture and dry quickly) and change socks daily to keep your feet dry.
- If you are being treated for a medical condition, consult your doctor, as some medications can make you sweat and cause body odor.
- If you have a strong odor, it could be caused by fungal growth. Anti-fungal shampoo can solve this problem, specifically, apply to the armpit area in the shower (apply gently to create lather, leave on for 3 minutes). Consult your doctor if you want more specific prescription therapies.
- Change bed sheets often and use white sheets because they can be bleached. More than that, you usually spend 8 hours a day on it.
- Don’t be too “aggressive” with body odor areas because it can hurt and cause other serious problems.
Warning
- Do not use perfume to cover the smell. It only makes matters worse.
- If you use a razor then you must make sure to clean the razor before using it. You can wash your razor with a disinfectant or disinfectant.
