The Windows 10 operating system creates temporary files while you use applications (such as Microsoft Word) to improve your experience. However, computers create hundreds of temporary files every day, resulting in hard drives filling up with data. When you open a document in Microsoft Word, the computer creates a temporary copy of the document every few minutes! This article will show you how to delete temporary files on your computer using Disk Cleanup, the Settings application, and basic commands in the Run dialog box.

Open Disk Cleanup. You can search for “disk cleanup” using the search bar in the taskbar and clicking on the app that shows up at the top of the list of results. This is the simplest and easiest way to delete temporary files on Windows 10.

Check the boxes next to “Temporary Internet Files” and “Temporary Files”. You will see the space that is about to be cleared displayed to the right of the columns.
