The most prominent feature of the Snapchat smartphone app is the ability to send text and image messages that can be deleted on their own, to prevent others from discovering the message or image. However, this auto-delete ability won’t help if you accidentally post a photo on your story or send it to someone else by mistake. You can refer to Step 1 below to learn how to remove snaps, whether they are on your phone or someone else’s. Note, there is no way to delete Snapchat that other people have viewed.

Open Snapchat from the app on your phone screen. To begin the process of deleting snaps from stories, you’ll need to open the Snapchat app. Usually, you just need to look for the yellow Snapchat icons on your phone’s home screen.

Click your name at the top of the contact list. At the top of the page will show the username you chose when you created your Snapchat account. If your story has a photo, you’ll see a small circle with the oldest photo in the story next to your name. Click your name to continue.

Find the image you want to remove in your story. When you click on your name, a drop-down menu will appear. At the top of the menu bar is information about the “score” (Number of Snaps you receive and send) of Snapchat and Snapchat friends. Each image in your story will be listed in order from new to old. Then, find the image in the story that you want to delete.

Click the “gear” icon next to each photo, then press Delete. When clicking on each item in the list of photos in the story, a small cake icon will appear. Tap this gear icon, then select “Delete”. As such, the photo will be removed from your story.

  • Note, if someone views your story, they’ve likely saved your photo or used screenshot mode. Therefore, you must delete the photo as quickly as possible.
